Denpasar District Court prosecutors are seeking a five-year sentence for a Russian woman who has been accused of shoplifting from a Beachwalk mall store. The woman, a 31-year old Russian citizen identified here as MS, is accused of stealing a camera bag, worth Rp. 3.9 million, from Travelogue on December 30, 2014. The woman allegedly took the bag from the store and fled, but was pursued and eventually caught by Travelogue staff member Gede Suarjaya and Beachwalk Mall security guards. In the opening session of court proceedings against the woman, Attorney General Happy Maulia said that the St. Petersburg woman would be charged for violating Article 362 of the Criminal Code, punishable by a sentence of up to five years in prison. “The defendant has unlawfully taken other people’s belongings in the form of a camera bag with the intent to keep it,” explained Attorney General Maulia.
