I haven't read anywhere that insurance will not be paid.
Tony Fernandes has already stated that full compensation will be paid regardless of the fact that the Indonesian Government didn't even ratify the Montreal Convention (1999) on compensatory liability awards. Air Asia already released some payments, to tide the families over, until the full amounts are prepared.
Jakarta Post today headlines that Insurers have prepared IDR300 billion for the families, but they need to ensure those funds go to the correct beneficiery. No insurance company would arbitrarily allocate funds without verification....and that takes time. The Insurers have already disbursed some funds to families who submitted correct documents and data...the rest are attempting complete payments by the end of this month.
I get the impression that the Transportation Minister and Surubaya Mayor are grandstanding politically over this insurance issue when compassion for the families and recovery of the flight data recorder should be priority.
Another report says the East Java police will oversee the insurance claim disbursement process....hahaha!:icon_rolleyes:
