Hi everybody!I want to open a hair salon in Bali. I know everything about the formal things, visas, and all of that. BUT, I am trying to find out about the costs.I have my own salon here back home, so I know what that costs but I dont think I can compare that to the prices in Bali.I am interesting about knowing all about buying/renting the space, rebuilding it, craftsman, interior and supplies. If you have any information ore know somebody that has done the same/similar, pleace contact me.Thanx!

How long is a piece of string? very difficult question to answer without specific details. But.... one thing is for sure it will be a lot cheaper than doing it 'back home'.

But you won't be able to charge "back home" prices either will you? Frankly it sounds like a slow way to commit financial suicide unless you are offering something special that the locals have not got and can't imitate. With anything like this you will be starting from zero and unless you have a portfolio of existing clients here on Bali you will have to have deep pockets to last until you do. Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I am going down in Juli to find out more information. But I am olso trying to do some research before I go.Jon, if I take the value of the money here in Sweden and think have mouch I spend here, do you think I can do it on 1/5 parts? Ruffle calculated..No, I cant take the same price as home and I am avare of that.

What visa & company are you looking at as this can add a lot to the cost. Rent in Seminyak is expensive, a small shop Rp350,000,000 for a 5 year contract.A good stylist will cost about Rp3,500,000 per month plus bonus, they will bring there own clients. To fit out the shop allow Rp50,000,000-100,000,000, depends on the size of shop. This will depend on your market local or western? This will show in your sell price. The new trend is to do all, Hair, Spar, Massage, Makeup. You need to have a enough money to cover ALL your costs for a min 12months. IE your rent for shop & accommodation for 2years in advance plus all the setup & wages for 12months. Forget about what it cost in Sweden, This is Indonesia & everything is different. So give us your ideas & we will try & help, I'm not a hairdresser & do not want to open a business in Bali, so your ideas are safe.

Yssi, just make sure you have the right market segment for the salon and have something unique to offer there.Just wanted to point out that the climate is so different here than Sweden, so you have to really consider different treatment regiment than what you have been doing, either you learned them yourself or you hire other people for it, each has its plus and minus.Good luck
