  • Hiii guys! Newbie from Bendigo, Victoria, Australia checking in :)

Hey guys!I recently travelled to Bali for the first time on a holiday and fell in love with the island.Found this forum while searching for rental properties as i intend on returning very soon for a much more extended holiday lol.Do have a couple of questions but they can wait for now.Thanks for having me :D

First visit myself and some friends rented a villa in Seminyak. Second stay i intend on renting a house for 12 months with a friend and his partner, (who are also coming with me), in basically anywhere within a 20 minute scooter ride of Seminyak lol. Was considering Dempesar but honestly the more i think about it the less i like the idea. Will most likely end up just renting in Seminyak :)
Be brave and venture further. Staying within 20 Km of Seminyak is a pretty small patch of Bali. So if you have a long term rent as a home base, you will maybe want to stay a few nights in North Bali, a few nights in East Bali, a few nights in Lombok etc - so make the long-term rent as affordable as you can so that it will be OK to leave it and roam around.
Agreed. I don't want to limit myself to just the small patch of the island i've explored so far. Because i've become friends with a few people in Seminyak and enjoy it there i figure that's a good area to setup a cheap home base then explore from there throughout the year :)
I would cautiously (don't want to offend the other "Semis" here - they're a dangerous bunch) suggest that if you are based in Seminyuk you will need at least 1.5 hours driving in hell to get to any part of Denpasar that is laughingly called the Denpasar city limits. Hence you want to go to Ubud? 1.5 hours drive to Sanur by-pass exit to Ubud and then 1 hour or so to Ubud. Want to go to Tabanan - same thing.
I know mate. I do rather enjoy hooning around on the scooter though (hooning being the operative word) :)
