I have seen someone posting messages on Facebook about electronic gates. If I see it again I will try to post the details here. I thought it would be great to have this, but then I thought how it will probably work well for about 6 months and then stop working for no apparent reason and no one will know how to fix it.

Electric motors here work just fine - have one of your local smithies make your wrought iron gate to your design with all the filigree and funky paint you could want and just install the motor with 2 stop-cocks. You can even get an app for your phone to control it with https://www.gogogate.com/

I have one of those gate openers which has worked for over 3 years without a mishap. No need for a cellphone app...one two toots on the horn and the gate opens...she's called Madi!:icon_rolleyes:
