Hello Everyone.....
I am planning my first trip to Bali this coming October. ...looking forward to the wet season! :-)
I will be staying in Ubud and want to connect with other expats for I am considering moving there long term, and would like to discuss their experiences, plus make new friends.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

I thought Ubuntu was a computer operating system until I looked you up and found it's a luxury hotel.
Best way to meet expats is buy a case or three of beer and invite to the hotel grounds.
It'll be like buzzards on a shit wagon.

Dunno, sounds kinda African to me like "as the Ubuntu tribe finished eating the BoneyOney tribe!"

Depends on which area is your target, most area has at least one facebook group, such as ubud community, sanur community, canggu community, etc :icon_wink:
JabberWokker
Are there any active expats living in ubud on here?
samsiam
Active as you mean still alive?
I would think all that energy and finding themselves keeps them busy.

Ubud has a vibrant and active expat community...I went to a 'once a year party' last October in my friend's extensive villa in Ubud (and have been invited again this year).
It was overwhelmed by expats from all around the world.
Some were rich and depressed; some were poor but happy; some were genuine and friendly; some were in-between and some were outright freaks and...much like people I enjoy having a drink with...the rest were just like you and me..........enjoy Bali/Ubud.....it's great!
Try the Bridge Resto Bar for sophisticated expat connections........ then work your way down the ladder...if you go up the hill to the Y...you'll be in gay-land.:icon_e_surprised:

Have lived in Ubud for three years, and still have a house there which I frequent. Once you have 20 posts you are permitted to communicate by personal message where you can avoid some the nonsense sometimes heaped on newcomers. Good luck and look forward to your email.
Any information would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
Sorry, I frequently omit submitting after copying a post. When you have 20 posts you may communicate by personal message. Send me an email when that happens, and I will be happy to provide my slant on Ubud having previously lived there for 3 years and still return.

My understanding is that forums are open-ended discussions for all to enjoy, be informed or debate.
Mugwump......If you have a 'slant' on Ubud...why don't you share with other members of the forum?
That's what the rest of us do; I'm sure we would all be interested in activity in Ubud.
Khymberlee
Thank you!

Thank you so much for your reply. I am in the process of finalizing the details of my trip, and when I do I will let you know which part of Bali I plan to stay. Have a wonderful week! :-)

Boring guy once a year is not enough. He needs to have more parties, get him to host a BaliPod one. Wine and cheese.

Thank you so much Davita! I am so excited about going....this will actually be the first time I've traveled overseas and I've always wanted to live overseas; most of my friends do. Now that my kids are grown....I can finally get busy doing what I love to do... travel...meet new friends and live more peacefully and freely.
