Car insurance?

I chose to not include cover for earthquake damage and that saves a bit. I did this because the amount of damage caused by earthquakes in Bali in the last 50 years is small. But the cost of insuring for earthquake is quite substantial suggesting the insurance companies see this risk as real. Anyhow it's you choice.

Ronb, thanks for the response. The previous policy expired on the 8th and I need to use the car. Markit referred me to a broker who recommended a policy with Binagriya and I have settled on that. Comprehensive policy was 367,000Rph.

Hello Markit, Ultrafart here. I have now officially moved to Bali. Wondering if you could pass on your agent's name for Zurich car insurance. Bought a car and considering the craziness of the motorcycle drivers I figured getting 3rd party insurance would be the smart thing. After driving accident free in Phuket for 17 years, the road death capital of the world, I thought I was well trained for Bali. Nope. Had 3 close call the very first day and wondering why the road is not littered with dead bodies. After 3,000 kms driving in Bali, I understood that the motor drivers are actually quite skilled but totally reckless with their lives, especially the Grab guys and the bule surfers. I figure I save about 3 Indonesian lives a day on the road. I got a quote from BCA and Asuransi Raksa and the highest I can get is 25 juta on third party. I expect it might cost a bit more than that if I hit the local policeman's daughter so I want to check if Zurich might up that a bit.

I'd love to help but my then agent went crazy during the pandemic and tried to steal my renewal fees so I cut him adrift. He was merely an agent for Zurich so you could probably go direct to them if you wish. I'm not clear what type of insurance you are looking for either - my car insurance then covered anything I did to my car and to theirs. I've never heard of any coverage like we have in the west for "pain and suffering" or for an alternative vehicle during the repair time. I would first check to see if what you are asking for is even a thing here...

If you check out Allianz they will give 3rd party risks up to the value of your veichle , the premium will increase of course.
