Hello All!
thanks for having me on this forum. I am planning to spend 2 months on Bali - October and November. Would love to rent a nice 2-3 bedroom villa with pool and all somewhere nice around Ubud. The questions is - when and where to start. I know there are a number of Facebook communities but given that it's still a couple months away should I:
- wait till aug-september to see what's out there available
- start now but then again - am i not risking that if I find something the owner will just say "hey - i found someone for a longer stay and I need the villa for october" or sth?
What do you think is the better option? When and where to start the search?

I would suggest to start looking on Airbnb now. You can read through reviews of previous guests and there is some security with payments.

Suggest you go on face book to Ubud communities or Ubud expats

Suggest you wait until you get here as Oct/Nov are the dead months(insofar as that still applies on Bali) and then ask around when you get to Ubud - there are lots of rentals but you will really want to see them before committing to stay there - trust me, pictures do lie!

Agree above little bit....I have been looking for some sites on airbnb and most have no bookings in September and such....if I was coming on your dates, I would book a few days only so you have somewhere without hassle to come to, then go look a little....have a list ready you have researched and chatted with the people involved, then go check them out......

Good advice. Book about 3 days. Gives you time to look around and get something that suits you in ways that you cannot judge from Internet pages. A key issue is how you will get around - will you have wheels - if not then central locations are worth paying for.
