marklindsay Does anyone know of a recently published map of Bali? Similar in detail and accuracy as the bog standard Ordinance maps available in Australia? With all the villages marked, an accurate scale bar etc? I have about four, sourced from the biggest "bookshop" in Ubud, and all are quaintly inaccurate . To the point where whole sections are deleted on opposite sheet sides. I am not looking for any pointers to anything in the digital world. Any assistance is greatly appreciated
DenpasarHouse Have you tried the Bali Street Atlas published by Periplus? I think it's great for all those backroads and small villages. Any Periplus bookstore in Bali should have a copy. Here's some links: Periplus Bali Street Atlas Bali Street Atlas Third Edition: Periplus Editions: 9780794607036: Amazon.com: Books
Markit Does anyone sorta, like, maybe have a copy they might like to sorta, kinda, possibly ... share?

I have one in my car and it is so out-of-date it is virtually useless in south Bali. Mine is the same revised third edition and printed in 2011....who knows when the mapping was done. If there is a newer print edition I would still check the map for its currency and accuracy....I got a more up-to-date google map on my Samsung phone.
no.idea I have Viber downloaded on my phone. Viber is the free phone call system that uses WiFi. It is also very good for sending photos. There are maps on it as well. I will often use Viber to send friends a map with my location rather than trying to tell them where I am. I have found the maps on Viber to be very accurate for the Sanur area. However there may not be the detail you are chasing for the less populated areas.
DenpasarHouse On a related note, Google Maps in Denpasar is pretty poor for some reason, Bing maps is much better. Haven't used it much outside the city though. On my Android phone you've got to use it through your Internet Browser as there's no specific app for it. Also, I use the MapsWithMe app which allows you to navigate when you've got no Internet connection by downloading the maps beforehand. Although, this is definitely the least up-to-date method as it uses the OpenStreetMap maps.
