Flying domestically with a 2 year old

Kids usually can fly for free if under 2 years of age. Our son is just over 2 and was wondering if or how the airline verifies the age. I read that US airlines make you bring the kid's birth certificate. Anyone have experience with this with Indonesian airlines?

I flew Air Asia to Surabaya last month with my wife and son. My son was still under 2 at the time but at no stage did they check his age. When we brought our tickets online we just put him down as infant and filled out his birth date, no form of identity was needed. I think you may of just found a life hack.

My son always travels as an 'under two' ....just has to shave off his goatee before every flight.

There is a very obvious way to determine if the kid should fly free. If it doesn't fit the overhead bin then it either needs a ticket..... or goes into the baggage hold...:apathy: Oh! sorry.... you're all talking about kids....I'm thinking backpack kits....my bad:cupcake:

When I flew with young kids, they always had the extra buckle attached to the adults one....if airasia does not....thats a worry and I might not board if they did not....any turbulence and you will not hold onto your kid.....heads banging together cause far more damage than anything else.

AirAsia have them, I used one when I flew last month.

It's an interesting observation...I wonder if there is a restriction on how many infant children are allowed on each flight and how many of those extending child buckles are carried on each aircraft Yesterday, being a holiday, there seemed to be more infants onboard than I've previously seen...mind you, I'm not that observant. It was the screaming that caught my attention!

Flew Bali-Jakarta at noon today. Due to ceremony holding traffic in Jl. Kerobokan we had to divert to make it to the airport. Therefore, we didn't have much time to eat before the Air Asia flight which, remarkably, was on-time. There were many small children in our area of the plane, presumably flying free, as they were just being held by the parents. I thought kids were supposed to have special buckle attachments to the parents seat belts but I didn't see any being used. Is this a concern with parents? Funny thing was, as the food trolley was by our row I thought the smell of the curry cups was inviting, so asked my wife if we should eat...."No way!" she exclaimed "That isn't curry...that kid in the row in front has just shit himself!" :icon_e_surprised: Lunch today was [B]very[/B] late.

1. I showed them your avatar Markit...:icon_eek: 2. My super smartphone has not 1 but 2 cameras but, being a conscientious flight safety freak, I switched the phone off before getting into the plane.
