Gosh....are we going to have every case of Bali Belly in the headlines now? Go anywhere and it is a possibility. I have been bouncing around Indonesia for years and as long as I stay away from the Kopi I am fine. I never order "western" meals. One popular eatery I visited a while back had fridges in the kitchen but they were not turned on.

The above news is an Australian celebrity's son gets sick on holiday in a private Bali villa, with a butler/chef, and the resultant comments from the Aussie masses of vile anti-Bali rhetoric, sparsed with an occasional intelligent post. I hope the boy gets well soon.

AUSTRALIAN TV presenter Kylie Gillies has told of her Bali holiday nightmare, which ended with her young son being taken to hospital. The Morning Show host flew home to Sydney on Thursday morning after 10 days in Indonesia. Gillies' ordeal comes just a few weeks after the tragic death of Australian mother, Noelene Bischoff, 54, and her 14-year-old daughter, Yvana, after falling ill while on holiday in Bali on January 4. Seven days into her family holiday, Gillies found herself "violently ill" and it wasn't long before husband, Tony, and sons, Gus, 11, and Archie, 9, followed suit. "We took Gus to hospital when he started passing blood," Gillies told The Daily Telegraph. "Absolutely it was scary. Being an old journo myself....I can see it now. Slow day in the office? Give the right people a call and see whose holiday has been ruined in Bali. Not Africa, USA or anywhere perhaps more dangerous! Now the death of two lasses from Queensland was a tragedy but since no info has come from the Coroners Office, it sounds like the answers are all in the toxicology results which could still be many weeks away. Just wondering if it wasn't a TV presenters illness, would we get a story of "Melbourne council worker gets dodgy prawn in Bali" You have to wonder who is gaining an advantage from rubbishing Bali.

If anyone would like to read a more balanced article re getting sick or dying overseas, open todays The Age Newspaper. An article about those under 25 coming a cropper while on holidays. Between 2011 and 2012, 1138 Australians snuffed it. (Lowy Institute) I think that is all ages though and includes those oldies dropping off the twig from a heart attack while living it up on a cruise ship. There is a place in Laos where the locals set up zip lines and other adventure activities. 27 tourists died before the place was dismantled.
