I have a friend coming to Bali and she wants to meet Ketut Liyer, the medicine man from the movie Eat pray love. Does anyone know the best way to organize this? She has limited time in Bali, so I need to try and help organize it in advance.

waste of time if you ask me. his an old man that is being exploited by his family to keep performing and charge for saying the same to pretty much every visitor. Apparently there's a long queue and you need to take a number and wait for your turn just as you do when going to visit the bank or a doctor. I would visit another healer.

I understand and agree with what you are saying. I am just trying to help organize a friend's request. Maybe if someone can recommend a guide who can take her there, that might be an option. I think she just wants to go, meet him, take some pictures etc, rather wanting to meet a healer.

Any guesses why he's got the clipboard in his lap?

This from "balitravelforum" but the post is from 2009:
Ketut Liyer
Do a search on balitravelforum. Lots of people asking how to see him.

You could just get a local Ubudians to arrange a meeting with him, it's not a rocket science since his place in Pengosekan is quite wellknown, just get any local guide to ask for an appointment but don't expect punctuality from his side, he is a celebrity after all :icon_biggrin:

I'm inclined to agree with balibule.
From reports I've read, he tends to tell everybody more or less the same things and has a soft-spot for pretty females.
One encounter involved a person born with diabetes. This shaman didn't detect that.
A good-looking woman had spent thousands of dollars trying to find out why she couldn't conceive (something serious wrong with her plumbing).
In the end, this balian asked if the doctors knew the answer and she said no
His reply was something like: If the doctors don't know, I also don't know.
My understanding is that he's relatively "easy" to find, (being so famous after Eat, Pay, Leave).
Some say he's in Ubud's Monkey Forest Road. Ask anybody around there (maybe in Cafe Moka).
Others somewhere in Pengosekan (maybe even in Mas). Then again, maybe he has several outlets.
I think the going price for a "consultation" is Rp 250,000

Markit, at his age I doubt thats the reason for the clipboard.

If she wants to meet him only because he's famous then fair enough, but if she's after a reading or some spiritual guidance then she's wasting her money. I know a guy who will knock her socks off and won't charge her a cent.

What's the matter, JohnnyCool, you need glasses? Like he has been always, Ketut lives in Pengosekan.:drunk:

You can call and make an appointment, but your friend will still have to take a number and wait. I agree, he tells everyone the same thing.

If you friend wants to experience a healing treatment, then check out Wayan Nuriasih in Ubud.

Guys in the interest of rational thought can we at least all agree that this is all a load of bull-hokey?
These guys are "healers" like Billy Bob Buckwheat can raise the fecking dead.
The only true "healers" are those fellows with a Dr. in front of their names and the lovely ladies called nurses that assist them in their endeavours.
All the rest are gullible or desperate people being cheated out of their hard earned money.
This I do know!
