If you're over 60 forget it is the sad news. You'll be paying $1200+/month with an excess that will make your eyes water. And the BPJS isn't worth the paper it's written on IMHO. Sorry.
Most of those of our age (60+) that have been here a while live "the American Way" (sans insurance) and live in hope of being able to crawl onto the plane home if something serious were to happen. In all honesty I wouldn't let the jokers here touch me with anything serious so what's the point of BPJS health insurance here?
In the case of a serious illness they won't let you on an airplane anyway unless you're "stable" whatever that means.
Many Ozzies I know think they'll be able to go back to Oz but I've heard stories that doesn't work either so cheer up and enjoy your life while you can.
Ya it is a risk whether you pay ,use insurance or bpjs , standards here leave a lot to be desired , but god forbid you have something serious which needs emergency treatment in the "golden hour" ,you have no choice except the lottery here ,so ya it is for sure risky, but that is the plus and minus of living here ,unfortunately .
As I understand the situation here Sanglah is a class A hospital with the most complete variety of specialists and equipment, for bali and ntt /ntb , better than the private hospitals ,sanglah is bpjs .
