Sorry i have a few questions for any of you who have bought an indonesian to australia How much does it cost for everything? Passport, Visa etc..? How long does it take? Do they actually look at your bank account? What are the main reason they deny people? As always any help is appreciated thank you

Matsaleh's post and the thread she linked to should answer your questions. It can take quite a long time to process, so I would suggest applying asap. They say not to book any plane tickets until you get the visa and you should follow that advice. I think it might have been about 3-4 weeks for the visa. Passport is not too long, can't remember exactly. We had an agent do it, which can save time if you are in a hurry. Yes, you should be able to get it in Bali if the person is from another part of Indonesia. I would suggest starting the process now for sure.

The passport will cost anywhere between Rp700.000 to 1.5 million, depending on the immigration officer who processes it and how quickly you want it processed. It takes at least a couple of weeks to process; usually, the shorter the processing time, the higher the cost. A visa for Australia is available through AVAC in Kedonganan near Jimbaran. The tourist visa fee is Rp1,190.000 plus AVAC processing fee of Rp180.000. Provide as much information as possible, including compelling reasons for the person to return to Indonesia (family, job, business, etc). The main reason visas are rejected is if the consulate thinks the person will over-stay the visa or will not return to Indonesia. Thank you both very helpful Spicyayam how long did your whole process take including passport i am planing on coming back to bali to come and get him in july and just doing the visa then leaving two months for the whole process would you suggest making the passport before that? so e only have the visa to worry about? also if they are not from bali can they still make there passports in bali? thank you so much!!!

We have just been through that AVAC visa process. They suggest it will take 15 working days, but for us it took twice that - we enquired and they would say still being processed. Finally, an Indonesian speaking employee of the Dept of Immigration in Canberra rang my friend and interrogated him for about 30 min, then granted the visa - arrived by email within hours. But it is only for 1 month - we had asked for more. They are very interested in the financial arrangements and seem to be checking that the story in the application is "real". You ask about passport - I think you need to do the passport in the place where your friends KTP is from.

Also one more question i have just gotten back from living in bali i have a job and and income but at the moment not much money would it be better to get my parents to write the sponsor letter or does it not matter that much Thanks for all the help so far

I can fill you in on the passport matter:icon_e_biggrin: You can make the passport anywhere in Indo, but it is faster to do it on his hometown for first time passport: If he/she has a complete documentation, such as: KTP&KK, birth certificate, diploma/school grades, etc and a letter from the workplace,etc. You will need to submit the document in an online immigration service, after that he/she can do it in a day by using an agent or just pay a certain officer to guide you through, I think the going rate is about 1 million until 1,5 million all included If you wanted to do it the right way, it might take 3 until 7 days top and pay the normal fees The problem will arise if he/she doesn't keep the records and has to create them first, LOL For the visa application there's only 2 main consideration: - He/she or the sponsor has enough money to pay the ticket and paid the living expense - He/she has enough attachment to Indonesia, such as business, work, assets and stuff that ensure the OZ he/she will be back to Indo after the visit

Knowing this is the first trip abroad (new passport) it would be more difficult to obtain 3 month visa, you have to give specific argument why you need more than a month for a first time visit. But than again, I'm not OZ immigration, so maybe the sponsor letter can vouch for the visit, good luck:icon_smile:

I would suggest just being as honest as possible with your application. You could ask your parents to write letters of support also, if of course they agree to offer any kind of support whether it is financial, accommodation etc. I think these are the basic criteria immigration are checking for.

You've already had excellent replies by the look of it! I brought my girl over from Bali in February. Didn't have any problems. But of course, with her application we included a letter from my parent's stating they would cover her financially, and copies of their bank statements. Also she submitted a letter from her workplace (so they know she has an incentive to return to Indonesia). I suppose all of that helped. All the best!

Some way of showing your parents are a financial backup will help. Besides the normal costs of living in Aust, there is the issue that the visitor is not covered for medical expenses, and if there was some accident, these could be high. To indicate that there is some financial backer will help.
