Because I like once in a while a hot shower, even in Indonesia, I wanted to ask what the most easy (read; cheapest) way is to get hot water in the house? What do you need. Thanks.
Sergio
A hot water heater :D
Cheapest... heat pot water over a fire... lol

Or the Hot Springs ?
No seriously, you see a lot of Gas Water Heaters, in Dutch "Geiser". They are suitable for the LPG bottles they sell here.
If you have plenty of electric power you can use a Boiler.

Any idea of the price? Around.......?
Thank you.

Do you know I have never missed a hot water shower.
I nearly always want cooling down & enjoy the cold water.
But maybe if you are in the mountains it is cooler?
Bert Vierstra
Don't know about the price, I am like mimpi.
Bit my guess is CHEAP !

I like using solar panels for heating shower water. We have two panels in our house in Bali and they supply 300 liters of water. In Sumbawa we use water heaters that work off our generator.

Yep, that's the cheapest   My parents use electricity water heater, they purchased for Rp. 750.000. Pretty cheap, but you need 2 hours before to take shower to make it hot!! and electricity cost per month are very expensive... Have used the gas system, but sometime the gas smell, I can't smoke while taking shower, how horrible!!

Sergio! That is outrageously funny! I think you stand a good chance of winning the 2005 Expat Forum's Funniest Post Of The Year Award!
We use an electric hot water heater, but with that you need a storage tank, otherwise as Iris points out, it takes longer to heat the water than a gas heater. I'm not sure if LPG hot water is cheaper than electric or not.
We use LPG in our kitchen of course, but I really don't like having those potential "weapons of mass destruction" all around our house.

Brillant idea Sergio!
Now I'm really curious, how you will solve the problem with smoking on a motorbike
Tracey
Thorsten,
On my way to work this morning I was behind a pushbike rider who appeared to have a really long thin scarf around his neck upon passing him & looking he had a roll of I guess toilet paper shoved in his top & was pulling it out & blowing his nose!
I could not stop giggling to myself as this long flowing snotty thing flew behind him as he pedalled!
Excellent funny posts Sergio too!

Oh dear Thorsten, now you've done it. I can just see Sergio now, working diligently away in his CAD and photoshop programs, attempting to engineer some type of gizmo for smoking on motorbikes.
I'm waiting with baited breath. :P
