Jane_n wroteThanks Markit for your reply. I did say that we would be starting our trip from Lovina. So we will not be traveling anywhere near Tabanan on this particular day.
After reading reply's to peoples questions on this forum I thought that I might get some helpful reply's here, but I seem to have been wrong.

Yo haven't read anything from anyone living here. I have for 7 years and feel that it beats anything anywhere else in Bali.
To cite:
From Soka traveling north there are many rice field vistas, and unpopulated beaches that have lovely sunsets and the best surfing in Bali.
Unlike the north the beaches are broad and around Pekutatan can be walked long distances without interruption from hawkers and walled off areas.
Beautiful sunsets, and other scenic aspects all the way from Pekutatan to Negara.
Still many Balinese maintaining the charm read about in books, but seldom encountered in other areas.
Lack of congestion by vast hordes of motorbikes and and the like that are making South Bali so unpleasant and polluted.
Close proximity to the bukit providing uncrowded roadways and fantastic scenery from Pekutatan to Seririt.
Usually cool evening breezes that don't require air conditioning in the bedroom (been absent one in mine for all seven years).
A variety of hotels from spas to simple surfer accommodations.
If you want specifics let me know. I lived near Ubud before living here and feel there is no comparison, and sure as hell don't don't miss the constantly beseeching calls of TRANSPORT!
