Dewi's period was a little strange a month ago, very short. Otherwise she seemed ok, but everyone said she looked a bit fat, and indeed her stomach looked a bit big. Yesterday early morning however, she bursted open, and allmost fainted, bleeding like hell. We rushed to the hospital (Kertha Usada, Singaraja) and an echo was made. The doctor said, "spontaneous, incomplete abortion", or "miskraam", same in Dutch. 2 years earlier she had an ovary infection, on the same side where the very short term miscarriage had partly taken place. She needed an immediate curetage, so she was taken to the operating room. On request she had narcose. After the operation she needed blood transfusion, so her father and I went to another hospital with blood from Dewi to test. She had B and I have O+, but her father was a B. While I was there I gave blood anyway. When we came back Dewi was already awake again and had 2 needles (infuus) and a tube in her. I spend the night with her in the hospital, and could take here home this morning. She is still a bit shakey, but she is getting better quickly. A small unexpected horror story.
But now, what did this all cost?
The total cost was 3.5 million rupiah, which included two days in the hospital at 150.000 each, fee for the specialist who examined and "operated" Dewi 795.000 Rupiah, Medicine 1.360.000 rupiah and some other stuff.
The hospital was quite nice, only they had recieved a mysterious deduction from my Mastercard "Electronic" they told me, an extra of 3.7 million rupiah, I have to come back in two days to hear what has happened. And the specialist had quite an interest in the size of certain bodyparts of me, when I was not with Dewi, she told me. But this was expected, he expressed the same interest two years ago.

Dewi and Mums, just before going into the operating room.
