Bali Governor I Made Mangku Pastika says US pop diva Lady Gaga can perform on the tourist island if her Jakarta concert is canceled, as long as police can guarantee security and she respects Balinese culture."I don't think that there will be any problems, as long as Lady Gaga follows our requirements. For example, she must not offend or undermine the norms that exist in Bali and in Indonesia," Pastika said, as quoted by Antara news agency on Tuesday. The governor also said that the requirements would include those "on appearance and other related matters".Bali Legislative Council member I Made Arjaya has previously expressed his willingness to allow Gaga to perform in Bali."She may get rejected in Jakarta, but that won't happen in Bali. We're open. Go ahead and move her concert to Bali. It will make us happy, because having her perform here will make Bali an even more famous tourist attraction," Arjaya said. After saying last week that it would not issue a concert, the National Police said on Monday that one would be issued if the promoters of Gaga's June 3 concert can get recommendations from the Religious Affairs Ministry and the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI).Both have shown strong opposition to the singer holding a concert in Indonesia.More than 52,000 tickets, with prices ranging from Rp 465,000 (US$50.75) to Rp 2.25 million, have been sold for the concert since they went on sale on March 10Gaga gig OK in Bali: Governor | The Jakarta Post

won't happen...after both Bandung and Yogya have been rejected by Gaga(L) production (not the indonesian agency) I seriously doubt they would even consider Bali..they (Pastika) got it backwards ""I don't think that there will be any problems, as long as Lady Gaga follows our requirements. For example, she must not offend or undermine the norms that exist in Bali and in Indonesia," Pastika said, as quoted by Antara news agency on Tuesday." Bali can't follow her requirements.

Hmmmm..... I think Pastika smells a buck.....If it does attract tourists, I hope it attracts only 'quality' tourists.........(tongue very much in cheek.....)

Lady Gaga - take her or leave herThis whole Lady GaGa scenario is driving me "ga-ga". If nothing else, it's making "Indonesia" even more of a laughing stock than it already is, both in the region and beyond. It's also showing the ineptitude of the central government by apparently caving in to demands of an assortment of self-proclaimed "guardians of morality". FPI for example - basically a bunch of brain-challenged thugs who seem to have support from many quasi-governmental quarters (police, military, politicians, etc).Personally, I see no reason whatsoever for the present day Indonesian government to have a "Minstry of Religion" in a country that professes to be a secular nation. What's the point? Is Indonesia secular or not, or somewhere in between? Stuffed if I know (probably like many Indonesians). The impression that this furore over Lady GaGa's concert sends to rest of the world is that the country's "leaders" are as far from being "Captains" of the new ship of Indonesian democracy as one can imagine. More like a bunch of pre-schoolers, (apologies to real pre-schoolers), who can't tell the difference between shit and clay.I am not a Lady GaGa fan myself. (Her music doesn't do much for me.) Out of curiosity, I downloaded and watched her controversial "Judas" video. For me, it was like: "what's the big deal about this"? Crummy song, (IMHO), with lousy ("metaphorical") lyrics. I don't get off on guys riding motorbikes, or pseudo-sexy video dance moves. That this constitutes an affront ("blasphemy"), for people like the Catholic Archbishop in the Philippines is a mystery to me.As of right now (4:30 pm in Bali), I don't know if the Jakarta show has all the "permissions" to proceed. I believe that she's already got a visa. Big deal. She also reportedly said that if the concert gets the green light for Jakarta, she will perform alone. (What's that mean? "Lady GaGa Unplugged", so to speak?)The Jakarta show is two weeks away. Some 52,000 people have already bought tickets, (including 150 FPI morons with cheap seats at the very back). Moving the show to Bali would have several problems, eg, the biggest potential venue is GWK on the bukit (capacity of 10,000). What to do about the Jakarta fans? Give them their money back? Give those prepared to go to Bali free plane tickets (paid for by Big Daddy Entertainment)? Imagine that! Great publicity coup (as if LGG needs any more).Oh...and get her to do five "unplugged" shows in a row.:icon_eek:

My only 2 cents - Much of the goings on in Bali and Indonesia's clubs which are allowed to go on are much more vulgar than a Lady Gaga performance on so many levels.
