If there's any retired expats or people visiting for 2+ weeks who have some spare time and would like to help the kids of Bali then please visit Slukat Learning Center in Keramas, Gianyar. It's a school which teaches English and other skills to the local kids for free. The founder of the center originally built the place as a resort for his family but decided to give something back to his local community so he turned it into a place of learning for children from disadvantaged families. Website is slukatbali.org
They have volunteers from all over the world who visit Bali to help these fantastic kids who are all keen to improve their lives.
It is located just off the main bypass road that runs from Kuta to Sanur and takes about 45 mins on a scooter from Kuta.
They have a recycling program in place where the kids are rewarded with prizes for improving the environment.
The kids come from impoverished families where their parents are mostly working as farmers or in the local market.
The learning center also teaches them cooking and computer skills.
