Hi All,
I am waiting for my KITAS approval to be processed for over a month now, and my visa agent has told me that the delay is due to the Immigration system being down since the 3rd of November?
Can this really be true that a government departments computer system can be down for close to 3 weeks, or am I being conned here by my agent who has taken already taken the visa process fee and DPKK manpower fee to ($1200).
Any one on else on this forum heard about Immigration system being down, either in Bali or Jakarta?
Thanks in advance all
Brandon

I'm also awaiting my new retirement visa etc but heard nothing about delays. I'll be able to tell next Monday when expect my passport and visa are returned when I get back to Bali from Jakarta.

Thanks Borborigmus, I thought it was just a delaying tactic, it now has been mentioned about a Fast-track service funny enough!! The company Okusi Associates set up my PMS as well and although that to was delayed it still went through OK and there service was OK. But I now understand Indonesians do not like to say NO or give bad news so they just did not contact me to tell me of the delays. But I am use to that now, just wondered if it was a real computer issue or a flat out lie lol
Thanks again for your help :applause:

Thanks Nattoman, The agent is Okusi Associates, they did my PAM set up as well which went OK, so hopefully it is all OK, they just left it in a draw and forgot about it, I am sure they also must get frustrated with the government departments taking soooo long and clients like me complaining.
Cheers again

spicyayam wrotethe foreigner pays the agent and agent pockets the fee. This is from a well known visa company, so I think you need to be careful with all agents.
What company is that?

I have heard most excuses for the long delay in KITAS processing over the last 4 years. 'The system is down' is the most common, followed closely by "there is a snap inspection from Jakarta", "the offices are suddenly being renovated", and "the person who has to sign the documents is on annual leave".
The first 3 renewals took between 9 weeks and 11 weeks. I only managed to get my KITAS documents and passport back because I had an international flight coming up. Even so, I had to provide evidence of my paid ticket and itinerary before the documents were issued, albeit with grumbles.
At my last renewal, I had handed in all my documents one week before a family emergency required me to travel out of the country immediately. My agent fixed the problem simply by requesting a 'fast-track' KITAS renewal, which cost me 1.5 juta in total (as well as the normal fee, of course), payable on receipt of my new KITAS.
I had my KITAS less than 2 days later and left the same afternoon.
One suspects that the 'real' KITAS renewal process is the fast-track version. The 'normal' system, with its contrived delays, appears to be designed to punish those who churlishly expect normal service without offering the obligatory bribe, er, I mean 'express processing facilitation fee.

That $1,200 fee is sent to Govt bank in JKT.. Ask the agent to give to you copy of the transfer..Big scam recently is unnamed big co. doing visa's and not sending $ to JKT.. All documents including resident card are excellent forgeries. Only way to find out is you call JKT to verify kitas/kimas legitimate or not...Thks

@ Nattoman and Spicy.....It would be good to know the name of these dodgy companies, so less people can be scammed.

I haven't heard about the forgeries but I have heard about the non-payment of the $1,200 to the gov - the foreigner pays the agent and agent pockets the fee. This is from a well known visa company, so I think you need to be careful with all agents.

But that is what you are paying them for, so I wouldn't feel in anyway bad about calling them all of the time until the job is done. I heard a story where the agent never gave back the passport, the guy got deported but I heard he is back in Bali now.

I just want to clarify that I was not accusing Okusi Associates of being a visa agent that was trying to scam me, I was simply asking if any one else had heard of an immigration computer system that must deal with 1000's of application being down for 1 month.
As I stated above Okusi Associates have done a really good job of setting up my PMA and that they also must get frustrated like me with the immigration system being bad or down, and must get many complaints about it.
I am sure there are some dodgy visa agents out there that do try and take advantage of innocent bule who put a lot of trust and faith into a visa agent and pay them a lot of money, but Okusi Associates are NOT one of them, sorry if it came across that way in the messages.

doubt that 'the system' was down....more likely rotation of staff and new staff at the offices of imigrasi

Hmm, Okusi
