I get back to Bali on Friday, and have a local phone and number with Simpati. Apparently they announced bankruptcy on the 21st of September. Are people still able to use their phones, get and send texts, buy pulse etc? What are the latest reports from Bali? Any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks

On Sept 24 Jakarta Post reported that Telkomsel appealed - see Telkomsel Appeals Bankruptcy Ruling | The Jakarta Globe. On Sept 26 they reported that the panel of judges who made the farcical ruling were "reported" - see Judges Who Declared Telkomsel Bankrupt Reported to Judicial Commission | The Jakarta Globe. Since then I have seen no more.

no problems with kartu halo (same telecom provider as simpati) here!
