Greetings all. I am researching a documentary television series about Australians relocating to Bali and would like to connect with Aussies who love to spend time in Bali, so much so that they have made the choice to make it their home. I am particularly keen on connecting with:
1 Families who have decided to take their love affair with Bali one step further and are now in the process of making the move to Bali permanently.
2 People who have relocated to Bali and started a business there or decided to build their dream home there.
3 People who have married a local and moved to Bali, or people who are seeking love on Bali.
4 FIFO workers who, rather than stay in Australia during their time off, choose to live on Bali.
5 Retirees who are planning on making the move to Bali.
6 People who have made the decision to move back to Australia after having lived in Bali.
I am keen to hear about your motivations for moving to Bali, how you go about making it a reality and the advantages and challenges that present themselves by making this choice. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yet another useless and boring tv show prying into and twisting the real issues of people and their personal (and private) preferences or situation ....., all for the sake of cheapskate sensationalistic journalism . Sounds like another boring and unimaginative journalist wants to flog the dead horse on Bali again .
Also ..., as if the Aussie population needs to ( or wants to ) hear about why those expats wanted to "Opt Out" of life in Oz in the first place . The last thing your audience wants to hear is " We like Bali and chose to live here and we find Australia ..., Blah Blah bloody Blah " ...., go find a real story .

That's Journo-speak for - My Editor believes there IS something hidden that needs 'uncovered' or 'exposed' so I'll [I]uncover & expose[/I] it and if it turns out that there isn't anything to uncover - like normal families living normal lives somewhere else - well hell just hang out on the beach, hit a few bars & maybe find something worth [I]uncovering[/I] there.

A TEAM of more than 20 researchers are set to investigate why fly-in, fly-out workers are choosing to go to the cheap holiday destination of Bali during their down time, after $A50,000 was awarded to the cause.
The study, dubbed the Fly into work; fly out to Bali project, will involve a team of researchers from Western Australian Edith Cowan University’s newly created Centre for Innovative Practice investigating why some FIFO workers are choosing to go to Bali in between rosters rather than return to their home towns in Australia.[/B]

( not from taxpayers hopefully ) , If I had the chance to get out of the confines of a perth university , to go on a [U]free holiay[/U] ( oh sorry , I mean "pointless research trip" - lol ) ...., then Id have to put my hand up and volunteer If I was in that boat .
I guess TV researcher is getting his questions answered beforehand so it doesnt cut into his pina-colada on the deckchair by the pool "TIME" (paid for by the University of course)
Anyhow ..., research or documentary ? ...., the end result is [U]stereotyping[/U] us expats into a category , when each of our "reasons" for living here ( or anywhere else on the planet ) are totally unrelated to each other (and personal) - and the end result is pointless, boring, and uninformative studies or documentries or news stories, that are left open to [U]exploitation.[/U] by cheap and nasty journalists ( which is any journalist who would find this newsworthy ) with no idea.

In the offshore and I guess now mining its not uncommon to see guys do 3 BIG meals a day just because its there.
But lardarses are becoming the norm down there, I had not been back there for years, then not long ago I sat waiting in shopping centre watching the crowd go past on a saturday morning, the number of lardarses was staggering, especially young mums and dads with a couple of small kids in tow.
Better spend 50 grand on addressing that problem amongst other more pressing ones they have down there than prying into other folks lifestyles.

I just spent a week at a mining accommodation in the Pilbara and what was truly remarkable was how fat miners are! The trainer at the gym told me the official figure was that 70% of miners are obese, but he reckoned it was more like 80%. I can see how it happens: you spend 12 hrs sitting in a machine, you hit the mess and there is vast array of really high-quality food available - and it's free. So of course you're going to go back for seconds. And thirds. And... Anyway, I don't think any self-respecting Aussie girl is going to take a second look at these lardarses. So if you're single, and you're looking for some company, then why not come to the Philippines, or Thailand, or, more increasingly Bali. There it doesn't matter how fat you are as long as you have the cash, and miners certainly have that. Well, for now anyway.
