Hi
Can anyone advise me if you can still get a local bike license in Bali? Is an automatic scooter covered by an internation car driving license? (for insurance purposes)

If you have KITAS you may apply for a local bike licence. If not, you will have to apply for a Tourist bike licence which is valid for one month and renewable every month.
International Driver's Permit must be endorsed for riding motorcycles to be valid here and for insurance purposes. In other words, you need to have a current motorbike licence from your home country and the appropriate endorsement in the IDP.

I always use my international driving license that is endorsed for Motorcycles in Bali. I've been stopped a few times and having it has saved any complications with the police. And yes it works for most insurance.
