Return tickets and Kitas.

I will be coming to Bali on a sosbud visa soon and converting to a kitas with the aim of staying for a few years at the very least. The question is do I need to buy a return ticket to satisfy the sosbud requirements ? I am guessing a return ticket to Singapore would do, or can one just use a single ticket? Seems a waste to buy a return and not use it. How did you guys do it?

Yes Mat, when you apply for the sos bud, you will need an outward ticket from Indonesia within 180 days of arrival. I suggest you book an open ticket to Singapore (so you can change the date) because you will need to use it to collect your Kitas in Singapore.

I applied once in KL and on the receipt they wrote something to the effect that you need to show an onward ticket when you pick up the visa. When I went though, they never mentioned it. I have never been asked by immigration on arrival. I think the first few times I may have bought one, but since no one was asking for one, I stopped buying them. The other problem might be with the airline that you travel on as if you are refused entry for any reason, they are required to pay for your return ticket.

Are you sure I need to go to Singapore? My agent game me the impression It could alll be done in Singaraja.

mat...you don't need to leave Indonesia, all will be done locally in pemaron. your wife is your sosbud sponsor right? and as for ticket, one-way will suffice... if they ask anything (wich I seriously doubt) just explain to them what your plan is.."you're already married and are following directions given to you by imigrasi pemaron to have a one-way ticket, because the sosbud will be converted to a KITAS sponsored by wife before expirydate of sosbud" something like that ;D
