hotel near indonesia embassy, singapore

I will go to Singapore Monday pm for 5 days. Looking for a cheap room near indo embassy. Fan, cold water etc. I am not familar with the place and don't know what to expect. Also, public transport possible. Any cheap activities and sights? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Agree with Mark. No real reason to stay near the Indonesian Embassy. Find a place to stay and call on the services of a visa agent. The agent will come to you, pick up your papers and return everything the same day. [B] Man Courier[/B] is a famous and extremely reliable one. Used it many times in the past - never a problem. Sorry, I can't give you accurate information on "cheap" hotels in Singapore. My last few trips I've stayed in the Geylang area ("Little Malaysia"). Apart from being a red-light district, it's quite OK. There are several [B]Sapphire Hotels[/B] there. Nothing special, but functional. Look them up on the internet. I've booked on-line with them without problems. Last time I arrived at 3 a.m. No dramas. Close to buses and MRT. Taxis are surprisingly affordable.

Depends on your budget... I agree, get the agent to do the running around - there are NO hotels wihthin walking distance of the Indonesian Embassy anyway. You'll probably need 2 nights, double room? So many to choose from but a quick check with: Booking.com Backpackers’ Inn Chinatown = IDR 969298.75 Le Peranakan Hotel = IDR 1491228.85 Santa Grand Hotel Lai Chun Yuen = IDR 1837044.82 This isn't a recommendation, I live here so don't need to stay in hotels. General advice: stay clear of any hotel in the Geylang area - red light most hav hourly 'transit' rates - so it won't be a quiet night Also I wouldn't suggest any of the Hotel 81 or Fragrance Hotels - they may be cheap, but rooms are tiny & usually TV only has local channels

I contacted Malik. He picked up 1st time on a saturday evening. Sounded very accomadating. Asked me to call when I arrive. As far as Geylang it appears that is where there are alot of budget hotels. Probable for good reason. But most have favorable reviews.

Like I said "Geylang area = red light " also it's not really near the main city centre if shopping is on the agenda There are lots of budget hotels in Bencoolin Street which is on the city centre fringe... But your choice

I stayed a couple of times at the Four Chain hotel. It is in Geylang but on the other end of the naughty bit and I didn't see any "red light activity" in the three times I have stayed there. Four Chain View Hotel (四泉酒店） offical site

Ah... bit of a faux pas there balibule - though totally innocent on your part. The Four Chain Hotel has been the focus of not one, not two, but three underage prostitution scandals in Sg in the past few weeks: Most recently, last week 2 cases involved a Vietnamese girl Lawyer charged with commercial sex with underage Vietnamese girl Man jailed 4 months for commercial sex with underaged girl The other & arguably more sensational is still ongoing and causing a bit of a ruckus, involves no fewer than 48 awfully respectable pillars of society and one Singapore girl (one of the venues being the Four Chain) --- er, all at separate times; not 48 at once. Singapore Charges 48 in Underage Prostitution Scandal - Bloomberg Actually, both cases are a bit weird: 1. The age of consent in Sg is 16 2. Prostitution (Commercial sex) is legal in Sg 3. Commercial sex with a girl under 18 is NOT legal Ergo: since both girls were above 16 but below 18 & money changed hands, the guys got busted If I appear not the slightest outraged, it's because there is no hint or allegation that the Singaporean girl was in any way forced or coerced, or even a victim:- the 48 guys were caught because she kept a diary in which she not only listed their names & phone numbers... but also what they liked, and gave them each a 'ranking' on a sliding scale. So (back to the thread) I'm not sure I'd recommend the Four Chain for a good night's rest ;)

Previously, I stayed at Lloyd's Inn, which is only one block from the visa agent, Ismail's office. Rooms are simple but clean, no pool, no breakfast and SG$90 per night. Ismail will pick up and deliver your passport with the new visa on the same day, as long as you call before 9:00am. Suggest you call him before you leave Bali to advise you're coming. The first time I went to Singapore, I did a search on Lonely planet and found this place in Little India: Singapore Budget Hotel - Haising Hotel- Singapore discounted hotel with affordable rates The rooms are tiny but the staff were helpful enough and the wifi was fast, at least compared with Bali. A taxi from the airport was pretty cheap, and it is not far from a couple of subway stations. I also had no problem also with dropping and picking up money/documents from the hotel with Ismael's staff even if I wasn't around.

the Supertree Gardens in Singapore opened the other day - on the day I was leaving unfortunately. Looked amazing from a distance. Supertree Garden Opens in Singapore -- NTDTV.com Think the area would be well worth a visit. I was told that it is free to enter the area at the moment but that might have just been for a day or two.

Malik took good care of me. Ended up saving me money as Singapore/Lombok flight is only 3 times a week and I didn't want to fly through Bali. He got it same day. Embassy told it would take me 2 days. I would have had to d/o Tues am, p/u thurs pm same time as the flight.Which means I would have had to stay until Saturday. So thanks for the referral No.idea.
