Places for long duration laptop working sessions near Kuta...?

I haven't been there for a while now but upstairs at Gloria Jeans in Kuta square was a good place to go for wifi with comfy sofas.

Do you have any recommendation of places where it would be cheap and peaceful to work with laptop...?, in internet or without internet (for sparing money...) - many internet cafe waiters will let you sit only if you order something quite frequently. So sitting from morning to evening will become expensive - most of internet hotspots charge for minutes so if you sit every day like 6-8 hours there it will become very expensive for you - last time I did this in my hotel but the table/chair wasnt very good and it is difficult to concentrate with so many parties going on around So is there place like a public library in Europe where you can just sit down, relax and read or use a laptop (with decent seats and tables) without having to worry about internet minutes or a waiter disturbing you every 30min...? Just tell all suggestions you might have about best places to work in peace :)

I agree Shoggard. Either stay in a guesthouse that has free Wi-Fi or buy a USB modem, so you can use anywhere.

the waiters are only doing their job in a commercial environment : and if you sit for hours ordering only one cup of coffee, you are taking up the space of a customer who will place another order. I don't know the nature of your work, but you could prepare all your work in your hotel room, then go to a cafe or hotel lobby and just use the time to send your work that is all ready. Or, as Matselah says, get a USB modem. I have a question on the USB modem : what are the best deals out there? Any suggestions?

This is a bit like asking '[I]where can I sleep, because all the hotels want you to pay for a room and it gets expensive[/I]' Across Bali there are hundreds of places with 'free wifi' - but the deal is that you at least have to [I]buy[/I] something - they have overheads, the internet, electricity & rent isn't free... ...one cup of coffee an hour, isn't expensive.

I have Nokia CS-17, it is supposed to be good. Although I have no idea how it is working in Bali but at least here in Europe it is good.

You don't say how long you will be here which would give some idea of budget. The Nokia CS-17 should be OK as long as it is not locked to some European network. But otherwise, USB modems are now less than Rp250,000 - go to ::: WARUNG KOMPUTER :: and select Brand Name as "ZTE" to get some ideal of prices. Then for the SIM card, take a look at Paket Telkomsel Flash - Telkomsel for some options So you just want somewhere comfortable to sit with a power outlet within reach - so why not make this your top priority when selecting a hotel. Go try out the sitting spots before you sign up for a room.
