Call for Builders in Bali?

[b]RE: Buying land on Bali[/b] Bert, saw your picture of the villa in progress. What is the law about foreigners buying land to build on in Bali? Would we need a Balinese/Indonesian co-owner? Is there much call for builders on the island; my partner is an Irish builder with over 10-years experience in construction and renovations. Ideally, we would like to buy property to renovate and sell on - is this easy to do in Bali, or is there a lot of red tape?

He is a builder of the highest quality, quite in demand by expats in the Ubud area. He's in Aceh now providing aid and relief. Plenty are here. Your partner may have all the experience he has, but Bali is not Ireland. There ar no foreign builders here that I know of. There are however foreign project managers. This would maybe be something for your partner, however he would have to go trough a learning process. I think there there may be a market for renovating and reselling, especailly cheaper housing. Buy a Balinese style old house, put it up to western standard. There is quite a market in the 70.000 USD and less...
