Little bit confused. I didn't realize by writing that I have read that you must admit guilt and quoting a source to back it up means I agree with some deputy human rights minister.

Again a bit confused (to be fair its not that rare). I thought she had already had enough remissions to be released by 2018 and if she stays in jail and keeps getting remissions she can be released in 2015. I didn't read anywhere in the article the journalist said she will be staying in until 2024

Yeh@ Ragi I see you are correct...she has been getting remissions, which is not parole, so...one might say... if she continues denying she will be released in less than 2 years, assuming normal remission, and able to return home...... whereas, if she confesses now she can get paroled but needs to serve the remainder of her 5 year sentence in Bali...some choice! Did she actually get the Lebaron remission this year...I heard there was hesitancy for her? If she is due out soon I can understand the interest of the media.....but a few years down the road is not news. I [COLOR="#FF0000"]confess[/COLOR]....I lost interest in the case when I read the President signed her parole last year but it got lost somewhere in the administration, then they woke up to these parole agreements.

One more stumbling block for Schapelle

The Justice ministry in Bali confirmed that they have received a bundle of 13 documents relating to Corby’s parole application, and have 14 days to make a decision. Officials confirmed however that one stumbling block remains for the woman dubbed the “Queen of Marijuana”. Justice Ministry officials said that her permit to stay in Indonesia is still under question and the immigration department has yet to clarify her future status, whether she will need a stay permit or whether this will be waived. Despite the deadline for the approval, there is still no clear time frame on when Corby might be released, despite the fact that she has been eligible for the past year, having served two-thirds of her sentence. Assurances from Corby that she will live drug-free, will work at her brother-in-laws clothing business, will regularly attend meetings and will undergo counselling have all been accepted by justice officials. The remaining approvals are all in process, and provided the immigration department supplies her stay permit there are no further legal barriers to prevent the former hairdresser from walking out of Kerobokan prison in the coming months.

Bumping my own thread as, according to today's Bali Daily front page, she is a step closer to parole. Despite still NOT confessing the Law and Human Rights Ministry have agreed to her parole so long as Immigration can find a special exemption of her status to stay in Indonesia. Talk about passing the buck!

We all know how long it takes immigration to do anything, let alone making a special exemption for someone.

Would you be able to provide a link to the story that says she is being granted parole despite not confessing?

Rangi, the article does not mention Corby not confessing, however it does say that the correctional monitoring team says that she has "fulfilled all of the administrative requirements, except for the immigration approval", so they are recommending parole. Yeah that is how I read it Matsaleh. Part of the requirements for any prisoner to be eligible to be paroled in Indonesia is to admit guilt and show remorse for their crimes. That is why I have assumed she must of done this. I haven't read anywhere that she has finally admitted her guilt though, but also I haven't read that she is getting special treatment and that she dose not have to fulfill this. That was why I was interested and surprised when Davita said that he had read in the Bali Daily that she was getting closer despite not admitting guilt and also why I wanted him to provide the article that says this. . . . . Which was in the end not true and was just him saying that.

Well, maybe those in authority are just turning a blind eye regarding the admission of guilt. As long as no one mentions it, they won't lose face. :icon_wink:

Rangi....there are literally hundreds of links to her denial of guilt...there are none to her confession. How do you expect me to link to a negative......your question is absurd unless you have better information! I think you'd agree that, if she now recanted, that would be bigger news for the Bali Daily to report than what the Human Rights Ministers spokesperson (Bali Office) said. Unless I hear a positive report to the contrary...... I'll leave my post #94 intact. The observation by spicy makes sense and what I alluded to when I said "Talk about passing the buck!" The Human Rights Minister can now wash his hands and say...up to you Immigrasi guys...and get himself off the hook!
