I hired a car & GPS back in January.... trust me forget the GPS if you don't know the road & if you do, you don't need the GPS.
Example GPS lady tells you "In 50 meters, turn right to exit the highway. " Well, that's pretty clear, isn't it? Or it would be if you were actually ON a highway and not a 2-lane pot-holed strip of tarmac with no apparent junctions left or right.
But it IS fun shouting "What are you talking about, stupid woman!" (Not being sexist here, they do have male voices also).
Also remember "Traffic lights are purely suggestions"
