Has anyone ever heard of this company before? Are they reliable? Someone reffered me to this company and today I received a message from one of ICON+ sales reps, she sent me a surat penawaran, with a note: "harga masih terbuka untuk negosiasi". :confused: I know everything is negotiable in Indonesia, but I never thought it applies to a "fixed" internet connection pricing also? The speed is 1-4 Mbps up and down with starting price to "rent" (?) from 7jt/mo to 20 jt/mo with 5jt installation fee. This I found to be very expensive! They claim to have "dedicated" Internet services using end-to-end Fiber Optic Cable. This "dedicated Internet services using end-to-end Fiber" is just marketing hype and means nothing. The Internet is like a shared highway system, and the only part that your ISP can tell you is dedicated to you, is the feeder road from you house up to where you join the shared highways. Mostly these "highways" are Fiber optic cable - but that is true no matter which ISP you use. Internet services in Bali are frequently poor and this may be because 1. your feeder road onto the highways is speed limited (your ISP can help here) 2. the main highways out of Indonesia (usually to Singapore, KL, or Hong Kong) are congested (your ISP can help a bit by paying more for a premium service from the major telcos) 3. there is congestion or speed limited connections close to your destination (you Indonesian ISP has no control here) You are correct to say their prices are high - but if they can deliver close to 4 Mb speeds reliably, then maybe its worth it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my confusion Ron! It sounds kind of backward to me because you said that my ISP can help on #1 and #2 situations yet it can't help when the congestion or speed limit connections close to my destination #3. I wonder how could that be? I guess that's Indonesia, right?! :lemo: I think I will do more research on this company while keep looking on other options as well. It is so good to know I can ask someone here! This forum is awesome!
