I plant some vegetables here in UBUD and I become addicted to gardening. Everything is growing so fast! [ATTACH]1155.vB[/ATTACH] tomatoes 3 weeks. Do you know where i can buy seeds of other vegetables? I'm in Ubud.

Hi, You can buy organic seeds (herbs and vegetables) at Ubud Deli on Jalan Raya Mas (opposite museum Rudana). Happy gardening!

I'm after Japanese Grass aka Rumput Jepang. Not expecting them to have it, seems like grass seed is only available to grass sellers

Ya, Me too. I bough rumput seeds from grass reseller. Anyway after Rumput Jepang I plant a wild one that is covering well the ground, very fast grow and less maintenance. My tanah is clay, so or is to dry or is sludge. And Rumput Jepang become not so beautiful. Tomorrow I will post a photo of the grass.

The shop opens from 9 to 7 pm. You can also buy fertilizer. No seeds for grass, though. Only vegetables and herbs.

Which grass reseller did you buy the seeds from? I can't seem to find anyone that will sell it to me. That fast spreading grass seed you have could come in handy.

But this is the grass for the golf course ( I believe) and need a lot of water with my tanah. the wilde one is more resistent and fast " lateral"growing. Seem more resistent to step on it. After the photo if you like you can came here a take a lot of roots. Regards davide

You can buy seed of different varieties just south of Ubud in Lod Tunduh.There is a coop there, and can't recall the name. As you go south keep a sharp eye for a sign on the right side of the road immediately south of an elementary school. The people that operate the coop are always at the Wednesday market, speak English well and can provide better directions. Often seeds purchased elsewhere just don't prosper well in the Ubud area. Thanks mate, I'm planning on coming down south tomorrow for a few days. I have some Japanese Grass growing in a few areas in the back yard, it seems to be doing well with all the rain we're getting here but would like something I could plant and forget about.

I plant here herbs as Rosemary, origan, Basil.Ginger and curcuma. Other vegetables are Harricots, Onions, garlic and of course Hot pepper. Everything is growing well. For Rosemary I make a basic glass roof to reduce rain Ciao David

:icon_e_smile: Finally we came here also for the nature and gardening help you to discover it. I do not write about Papaya! After 6 month they are full of fruits ( at supermarket about 1-2 euro each for organic like mine) And Pare, the bitter cucumber, is filling a wall of the backyard and continue to make fruits ( in 3 days are so big) Also all the family is involved and you loose weight free of charge ! Some activities are heavy

About 3 years ago I went through the same learning curve about grass so since I'm too fecking lazy to look up the thread here's what I learned: NO FECKING GRASS SEEDS IN BALI! FORGET IT, IMMEDIATELY! There are 2 types of grass available from your friendly local garden shop - Mutiara (don't think of bitching my spelling!) which is great for shaddy areas but needs loads of water in the sun or just ups and dies. Japan grass is great in the sun and doesn't need much in the way of water to expand its area very, very slowly. Going price for both here in Karangasem is 20K/meter I looked and looked for Bermuda but it's really ugly grass and not to be found so feckit. When you go to your happy grass seller - take your own meter stick! Theirs is only 80cm - surprise, surprise. Stand there and watch them chop and bag it or your will not get what you deserve. Count the fecking bags and then go have a Bintang.
