Hello,I have spent the past month reading through this forum. I have the opportunity now I have finished my studies to do something have dreamed of doing - live in Bali for 3 months. I know lots of people have had the same dream & I have felt so inspired by the many people who have done it. I have been studying and working hard and I have 2 young children & a teenager. I now am ready to experience something different and finally, follow my heart and my dream. I want my children to experience something different from our day in day out routine and I know, it's a lifestyle change. It may be harder, it may be easier. I also feel I have alot to learn over there after completing my studies in complementary medicine. I have always been drawn to Bali for many reasons. I have been calculating and researching and I have made up my mind this is what I want to do. My plan is to live in Bali for 3 months. I have done a budget and it's looking good, but I am worried about not having a secure home for those 3 months. I know alot of people advise to come over and find a home once you get there, but that worries me. I don't want to leave until I know where I am going to set up. I want to make it home for the time we are there, and I am not interested in tourist accommodation. I am looking around UBUD, only because I have not been anywhere else, and it is a places I felt that 'coming home' feeling where I can see myself with the children. Can anybody give me advise on how to find (from Australia) a home? I am so ready to go, but just going through the planning stage, which i am enjoying, but it is hard :)Any help at all apprecitated. Thank you.

To rent a place for 3 months is unusual, but not impossible. Check http://www.rumah123.com/ for rentals. Contact the owners and make them an offer. Most will reject you, but some will accept a 3 month rental. Pay cash on arrival and make sure (ownership certificate or similar doc) that the owner really owns the place. Many rental scams...Make sure you and your kids have medical insurance!Good luck.

I would do reasearch on the internet before you come, but I wouldn't commit to anything without seeing it in person. It will also depend on the month you come. July and August is very busy for example. Or do some travel around the island first and you might find another area you want to live in.

I am here for six months and got a social visa through the Indonesian Embassy in Perth, which gave me two months, then I have to renew every month for the next four months. I am currently renting a 2br villa in Sanur for three months-wrong side of the By-pass unless you drive or have a driver - but it hasn't deterred me as I can cab it. It is in a complex of 7, with a communal swimming pool, security and costs me 10,000,000Rp a month. I will then be staying in Ubud for three months, but at three different venues all around the same price.Go for it, you will love it.

Don't worry, be happy! What can happen to you in 3 months?I stayed at this place for 3 months in Ubud and loved it (except for the mozzies). And she (Chinese lady by the name of Nyo nyo, which I'm told means "boobs" in Balinese) will look after you like her baby. Ubud Bali Bungalow | Pondok Ganesha
