welcome ferdy,1) go for a Kos, that's similar to a boardinghouse..that would set ya back about 500k - 800k a month a house would set ya back around 40jt - a lot per year.2) depends on your attitude towards them, but in general friendly.3) you are not allowed to work on a sosbud or touristvisum. Or did you mean the wage for a balinese?

Hey Gilbert,Thx for the response. Regarding the house, is it possible to find housemates like here in Australia?I am an Indonesian citizen originally from Jakarta but I grew up in Singapore/Australia so I should be allowed to move there and work without visa or anything like that do I?What I meant about pay is minimum wages of the Bali law.

If you are still an Indonesian citizen (you still hold an Indonesian passport) you can work here. You will need to apply for a Bali KTP to legally work, though. If you hold an Australian/Singapore passport, you will need to find a job and ask the company to sponsor you for Kitas/work permit. You will be treated exactly the same as if you are a foreigner. Here's a link to minimum wages in all provinces of Indonesia:Provincial Minimum Wage 2010

The owners are renting it for 14jt per year now but I'm sure theres plenty of decent houses around for 15-20Juta. Ferdy you can also try Ray White or LJ Hooker, they have a lot of listings and they sort out all the paper work as well.

Last April the Indonesian govt passed a new law regarding granting KITAP to foreign and children of mixed marriage also includes Ex-Indonesians who lost their citizenship because they have taken a foreign citizenship. Implementation of this new law may take up to 12 months - hopefully :-).Here are the list of 4 categories of people eligible to a Permanent Residency Permit (KITAP):1. Foreigners with Izin Tinggal Terbatas 2. Foreigner and children of mixed marriage3. Wife, husband or kids from a foreigner having an Izin Tinggal Tetap 4. Ex-Indonesian who became foreigners and children with dual citizenship and became foreign nationals when reaching the age of 18.

Hey guys,Thx for all the info u guys provided which I need. Fortunately for me, I still have my Indonesian Citizenship and all I have to do is apply for KTP.And as I'm on a low budget, I guess the Kos is my best bet.

Hi Ferdy: Not sure what your credentials are. But if you are Indonesian, you will be paid Indonesian wages. Currently the minimum monthly wage in Bali is about 900K rupiahs - many employers don't even adhere to this minimum wage requirement. As you have been living overseas most of your life - you should really consider if you can afford to move back to Indonesia (Bali). Good luck!!

I think it all comes down to what qualifications you have and the type of work you do, some lines of work aren't worth exploring (like IT). My friends who have good english and university degree's get paid between 2.5-3mill per month. One works for Quicksilver and the other is a interior designer. My ex was also working as a P.A and getting 3millSo yea unless you own a business Bali really isn't the place to come and work if you want to make money. Its more about the lifestyleWhat do you do for work?

I just got a degree on Business/IT(no professional job yet). I have savings here from Australia that can last me at least 3years in Bali. I guess I'll move there for about 1-3months and see whether I would be able to live there for good.
The more reason (in my opinion) for you to stay where you are and get some REAL professional job in your field of expertise. Your 2 or 3 years experience will only be an asset should someday you want to move back to Indonesia and hopefully land you a nice high paying job with a bonafide company in Indonesia.
I think that is good advice. If I was you, I would be looking for Australian companies with interests in Bali. There are some companies doing IT outsourcing work in Bali and with your language skills and education, you should have a good chance of finding a job - Bali an outsourcing attraction | The Australian Ideally, aim for an Australian salary in a job that allows travel back to Bali!
