I've seen people using them here but haven't seen them for sale. Does anyone know of a place that sells these and for how much?
Markit
It's called a Cow and they run from 2 juta (small model) upto about 6. They do a great job and fertilize your garden too - and then you eat them.

Thanks guys
Markit the thought of a cow had actually crossed my mind but I was thinking a weed wackier would attracted less flies.
Mats I'll check Ace out, hopefully they have them here and hopefully they're not 5 times the price

In Singaraja you find them in shops that sell power tools and water pumps. The better models are where the motor is worn as a back-pack and there is a flexible cable connecting to the hand held trimmer. I am sure there would be many places in Denpasar selling them - and they could be cheaper than Ace.

Thanks Ron, I'm in Singaraja now so I'll hop on my bike and take a look around. I was thinking of having one imported but no one ships these things to Indonesia

BKT..the powertool-shop across the road from the PLN office, close to the trafficlights near hardy's.
or a bit cheaper at "yanmar", at the end of Jl.deponegoro (oneway road) have to turn right, then about 30 meters on your left handside.

Ha Gil I just came from Yanmars, they had an electric one for Rp 500,000. I had a look at the shop a little up further on the corner as well and they told me to check out their show room around the corner. They had the same electric one for Rp 750,000 and a petrol powered one for 2.5mill. Kind of leaning towards the petrol one as theres no power up in Kaliasem for me to plug an electric one into. I'll have a word to the wife's cousin and see if he can get me one at cost price. thanks all for the help.

That one at the end of Diponogoro is where I have been - check their prices too. I would also lean to the petrol rather than electric.

In Oz, they are called a wipper snipper. I agree with Ron here, buy petrol model as against electric. It can be used in far more places with out the hassle of finding a loooooong cord. :icon_rolleyes:

I know this is a super old post but I have been trying to find and ,mains powered whipper snipper. Been to depot, mitre 10, ace and they either have no stock or battery powered ones. Any suggestions thx

How long does the battery powered one run? I presume plug in to recharge? What price? We have a small area that would just take a few minutes and I imagine the battery type would be less noisy and no fumes. Please post if you can conveniently find these details? Thanks.

Just bought a Stihl two stroke engine powered one at Toko Sinar Surya in Gatsu (Denpasar). You could give them a ring to see if they carry an electric version. I have also recently seen a mains powered whacker at Bagoes Depot Bangunan in Gianyar.
