Hi denis, What is your definition of Mid-range? Traditional Balinese food. Ibu Oka, across Puri Saren (The Ubud Palace) for nice Babi Guling (suckling pig). Also at Rumah Roda, Jl Kajeng. Many restaurants offer "bebek betutu," (Balinese smoked duck) not to be missed. There are only few people in Ubud who cook these ducks and supply them to all the restaurants. So, the only variable is in the price charged by each of these restaurants, which varies over a wide range. The cheapest is at Rumah Roda and at Dewa Warung (last years' price, Rp70,000). And of course, if you can get yourself invited to a Balinese ceremony(wedding, etc) or to special event , you'll be offered many Balinese festive food.

I know a beautiful house {two story} with maid service and breakfast included for about 200000 / night . at the base of Monkey forest road andvery near Pizza Bagus and Wunderbar. Wunderbar on Bali? I was oftenly in the Wunderbar in Munich when I lived there, it's a play with words, wunderbar is including the the German words Wunder=miracle and Bar= bar, but wunderbar means wonderful. best regards Thorsten

A lovely place to stay in Ubud is Junias House, a traditional Balinese house set amongst the rice fields in Penestan Here is a link to a small website made by someone who stayed there.
