Which form do I use for Social Visa?

Hi, my wife and kids are applying for sosbud visas in Sydney next week. Am i right in assuming that the form to use is the 'General Visa Application Form'? (the one where photograph is spelled 'photograpgh'). In that case do you fill in the 'Sponsorship Indonesia' section with the individual sponsor's details? We have sponsorship letters and a photocopy of our sponsor's ID - is there anything else we need apart from the usual photos etc? I know there has been some discussion about the necessity of a ticket out but does anybody know if this is an absolute requirement from the Sydney office? And if so can you have a ticket that's 6 months in advance (ie 2 month visa plus 4 one month extensions) or does it have to be 2 months? thanks, Phil

OK, I will but if somebody could possibly answer my question i'd be very grateful. Also, we came in on 2 month tourist visas last time (211) and had no trouble extending these for 4X1 month (well our agent had no trouble) so I'm wondering if there's any need to go through the hassle of the sosbud when a tourist visa seems to give you exactly the same result. phil

Sorry Phil I put the answer in your quote. last time I was told, is that you need to supply a return ticket of no more then 60 days for a 60 day tourist visa in Sydney. I have seen people extend a VOA for 12 months, just depends on who you want to pay????? The ticket is the only problem I think, so as I said let us know how you go.

Hi fred so you did! sorry, I missed that. thanks for your answers. so i guess the trick is to find a ticket out which doesn't cost an arm and a leg to change the date will keep you posted on how we go cheers, Phil

I'd look at Air Asia flights to Singapore or Malaysia. A one way ticket would set you back around $50

Just get a return Ticket, in 6 months you have to do a visarun anyway Your going to the embassy to pick a visa? Your going to use a agent to extend both visa? You have everything for a sobud visa so just have a go, you mite even try to extend the visa yourself:icon_mrgreen:

I guess the million rupiah question is whether they insist on a return ticket that's a. dated within 60 days of entry or b. dated within 180 days of entry Might ring them tomorrow and see what they say Phil

When I've applied for a sosbud and filled in the immigration forms I've always stated that I'm going to stay 180 days and provided a return ticket for that time also. Never had a problem.

At the Sydney Consulate for sosial budaya, they insist the return ticket must be within the 180 day limit.

OK, all went well with the social visa application from the embassy in Sydney. Used version of a sponsorship letter I found on this forum (same form for whole family). Usual passport photos (which I made myself - very easy and very cheap!) Ticket denpasar/darwin dated within 180 days. Just a note: they are absolutely militant about it taking 5 days to process. there was a woman ahead of us who was absolutely distraught but they wouldn't budge. cheers, Phil

I just got my Sos Bud done yesterday in Singapore (well, my agent did, while i was shopping :P), without any return ticket... No problem at all...
