rien.gluvers Is there anywhere on the web a really detailed map of Bali? All te maps I haven found untill now don't meet my needs.
Terry hoi Rien this is the best i could find http://goasia.about.com/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.balinesia.com%2Fimages%2Fbali.gif groetjes Terry
matsaleh Hi Rien, Below link shows a very detailed map of Bali. It takes quite some time to load, but it's worth the wait. I had a friend convert it to a printable version in Photoshop and use it whenever I travel in Bali. http://www.wurli.com/wurli/bali/images/ ... li-Map.jpg The site belongs to a traveller from Austria and also has maps of other areas in Bali including Singaraja, Lovina and Kuta/Legian/Seminyak. http://www.wurli.com/wurli/bali/Default.htm Hope it's helpful.
Roy Then again, we "die-hard" antiques nuts rely on more vintage maps...like this one: http://www.bali-expat-pictures.com/deta ... mage_id=93 Small wonder I never drive myself in Bali!
Sanurian Maps? Who really needs them? Sure, they're useful sometimes - the trouble is it's very difficult to get detailed, up-to-date ones. Especially here. The same goes for guide-books. Great for an overall picture - mostly completely useless for the details. I think part of the magic of travelling is to get lost occasionally and (hopefully) get found again. It's very hard to get 'lost' in Bali these days - sure, you might have to wait a while for help, but it always comes. And don't forget the explorers of days gone by - no maps, no guide books, no hand-phones, but plenty of time. These days, most of us don't have all that much time. More's the pity.
Sanurian Ok - more seriously. I haven't been able to find a really detailed map of Bali on the web. The link that Matsaleh posted above comes close, but there are quite a few errors and omissions on it (eg, where is Mt Catur?). Far more detailed maps can be bought in big bookshops like Gramedia in Bali. Relatively inexpensive. Nobody in their right mind would use Roy's map these days. Still, that's the kind of stuff explorers were made of.
Thorsten Hi matsaleh, this map is really wonderful, have already saved it on my PC Thanks a lot Thorsten On Bali is used the Bali pathfinder, not perfect but also not bad.
matsaleh You're welcome Thorsten. It's the best map I've found so far, even if it is a little inaccurate.
Bert Vierstra I just bought this one for 145.000 rupiah: (in a Circle K) http://www.tuttlepublishing.com/title.cgi?title_id=2528 The most detailed map of Bali I have ever seen. But listen tuttle, PUT IN LATITUDES and LONGITUDES in your next edition so I can use my GPS with it.... Thanks...
Bert Vierstra Well, I do have a lot of waypoints, but I doubt if they are useful for you, the locations of houses (my own f.i.), shops etc, pieces of land for sale etc. You can download some waypoints overhere: http://www.kutu.com/indo/indo.htm
