Hi all, Can any of you recommend a nice restaurant in Candi Dasa. For dinner, preferably sea view (or lagoon view), western food. Thanks all. :icon_razz:

You could try Temple Cafe - Temple Cafe & Seaside Cottages - HomeThe restaurant is near the street - not the beach - but they have so a couple of tables near the beach and can server food and drinks there.

AMARTA RESTAURANT. Just outside Candi Dasa, in the village of Sengkidu (Before C.D., when coming from Denpasar, turn unto the beach road, in front of the SMA Kiti School). Located on the beach, excellent French cuisine, with cheap prices. Very relax atmosphere, friendly service. No, I have no financial nor any other interests in this establishment :icon_biggrin:

Thanks Ronb and Tintin (Daniel?) - will have a look at both and let you know. Have any of you tried 'Le 48'? Or is this 'over the top'? To Tintin, ha, ha, if I could only get a commision for every recommendation, I would be filthy rich... Happy Galungan

As I live in Candi Dasa at the moment I can easily say if you want good western food try go to the Water Garden. If you want bay/sea/ocean view and good food too then try Alam Asmara Dive Resort boutique hotel - the rooms are great too.

The Water Garden Restaurant is top, and the hotel itself is, IMHO, the best in Candi Dasa. :icon_wink:

Went there very recently and was extremely disappointed. The food ok, staff rude, and the cottages, dont get me started the bathroom was dirty, and the bed had bugs!! (not the two legged kind) had bites all over me, large welts which took days to stop itching. Major complaints from me, reply a toss of the head.So that's my comment on this place, the only good thing is the beach, yes there is one actually left, and it is quite large, great for getting rid of the itches!!!

Candi desaAnyone know if the Gandi Ashram is still there in the main street, next to the lagoon. Food there used to be amazing.

Um not exactly sure but I think the Gandi Ashram was taken over by a couple of french guys and turned into Le 44 or something - sorry, I go by there every day but haven't seen the GA...?As for the best western food in Candi you might also want to try Vincents, also on the main drag - run by a couple of Dutch guys they have a smaller menu than the Water Garden but what they serve is excellent!

Restaurants and hotels can collapse in no time and I should have known better than to recommend a place I had not seen in 3 years... Amarta Restaurant was one of my favorites in/near C.D. I knew the French owner well, Catherine, married to a Balinese guy. She also owned the Darimana Restaurant, near Monkey Forest, in Ubud, but she closed it down in 2004, because it was not doing well. I never understood why, since the food was excellent and relatively inexpensive, but it was always empty, expect for few regulars (of which I was) and some lost tourists. Maybe she sold Amerta also.:icon_rolleyes:
