Count me in! I am a member of two clubs in Perth! and i was sad about missing my book club when we move. I am a mad reader so I think between a couple of us we will be able to get a happy little club happening.

What possible difference does it make to our ability to share in the thoughts and lives of other human beings, be they alive or dead or completely fictional, whether the medium of transmission is a piece of a tree (paper), electronic (the thing you wrote your reply on), stone (as in the 10 commandments) or on a cave wall?Your reply made me physically sick :icon_cry:A bit off subject but since the author chipped in I followed suite.Markit

I agree with Markit here, with the advent of internet, ipads, and the thingy :icon_rolleyes: that Ronb uses for reading books, the new age has certainly in our faces. Books are so bulky where ipads etc can hold many "books" with in no space at all.Get with it ladies, its a new milleniunm. Embrace new technology or get left behind.

Sorry, but I can't imagine snuggling up in bed with a kindle or an ipad. :icon_sad: There's nothing like a good book.[/QUOTE] Mat, I don't think there could be a more avid reader than I am. I love books and I love reading and I love reading a good book before falling asleep. Before I tried reading an ebook I would have fervently said the same thing you said but I was surprised. I originally put books on the iPhone for plane travel with far less weight. I was afraid to get on a long flight without three books:icon_biggrin:. But now I am happy to read my ebook in bed at night. It throws off far less light than even the dimmest bedside lamp and that makes my husband happy. The ebook is light to hold and I can read in any position. A touch of the screen turns the page and it looks like a real paper page turning. It saves my place and I can even bookmark pages if I want. I have been so happy with reading on my phone that I have no desire for a Kindle or iPad. And I'm really glad I didn't spend the money for a Kindle since they won't sell me Kindle ebooks while I'm in Indonesia.

It the term "lights out" a catch phrase for something I'm unaware of? Seems to pretty prevalent in over 35 year old age group. Between 15 and 30 it's seems common too as in "try this, it'll knock yer lights out". Just curious...:icon_wink:

I actually prefer the "lights on"I also thought the saying was "try this, it'll knock your socks off" :icon_rolleyes:
