pollyanna wroteI've only once seen a potbellied pig and it looked as Hermit described. It was my daughter's neighbour's pet in the U.S. It really was the cutest little thing, would come by name when it was called and was very affectionate. They said he was very intelligent and very clean.
From the research I've done, they apparently make fantastic pets! Exceptionally smart and easy to train, affectionate, clean and do not drop hair. They don't sweat, so they need a small pool to cool down in, so that they don't make themselves mud baths in the garden.
I'm thinking of getting one as a pet a bit further down the road and want to do as much research as possible to make sure I'm not making a mistake (or haven't consider any foreseeable problems).
First things first, I'm wondering if this smaller breed (or close to it) is even available here.
@kanginkauh: Thanks for your info....have you actually seen any of these pigs? And if so, have you got any tips on how I might be able to find one....at this stage just to have a look at size etc.
