Be wary of large guard dogs here. For some reason they're selectively bred for "off the hook" aggression, not something to be desired in a 52kg canine. Go with anjing kampung, they're wonderfully loyal and plenty aggressive enough to run off people who are nosing around where they shouldn't be.

It is all a matter of training. Sure an untrained, undisciplined Rottweiler is a disaster waiting to happen, but an untrained, undisciplined kampung dogs can be a menace too. BTW found a puppy.

a good rottweiler needs little to no training, with good I mean that he/she is purebreed, not son with mam and fifth or sixth nest (danger of short-circuit in the brain, and ofcourse HD) or even with a totally different breed. Ofcourse one needs to show 'who is the boss', with a female not as much as with a male, a male will at least try one time to become the boss..ussualy between the age of two and three years. a rottweiler should not be raised in a cage, it's very important that they are close with the family, can go and see what they need to see...if not he/she will not get that bond with the family and it can actually screw-up your rottie. Ofcourse a kampung dog can be just as sweet and loyal, but a rottie is something totally different. Ok peter, have fun raising the little rascal :icon_biggrin: ...btw, where did you find the girl/boy? age, papers, price? maybe josh is still looking for one...

Mostly agree Gilbert. But it is important to make sure ALL the members of a family are dominant over the dog. That includes staff. This requires at least some training. I heard funny (perhaps not so funny) stories about Rotties jumping on the bed next to the wife and stopping the husband laying down. At that point Roy. This is a good place for information Anjing Bali|Komunitas Anjing di Bali dan Indonesia Also talk to the stag services (Pejantan). They know where in a few months there will be puppies. These f%^$#g cages many Balinese keep their large breed dogs in. Poor dogs...

Thanks for the link Peter. Thats a good source for some informations. At the moment I'm busy with moving to the new house but in a few weeks I'm going to see where to get a female pup. And, like Gilbert, I'm interested in price, papers and the place you found yours too.
