Carpets

Hi all, I need your help. Does anybody know where to buy carpets or rugs in Bali? I have already searched the internet but the only shop that came up was Farah carpets. But I am not so much looking for oriental carpets, more for colorful modern ones. Anybody any idea? Thank you and best regards from a very cold Vienna, Gabriele

Look for Ikat. These are woven (single and double, both machine and man) all over and make lovely carpets and wall hangings - but stay away from the tourist areas like Tenganan or Sideman because in my experience they try and charge about 3 times the going rate there! You'd expect to get them cheaper there but that's just the trick for them to charge ridiculous amounts and get away with it.

[b]Macro[/b] There used to be some rugs outside of Makro. I bought one around 3 years ago for around 1,5 milion. It was 3 by 5 meters. It was fine, but the biggest problem was getting it cleaned after a couple of years... There are some smaller ones also at Matahari and other departement stores.
