Doesn't have much to do with Bali - but it's interesting. Maybe she can turn things around. We'll see.Gillard takes power in bloodless coup - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

I was getting the feeling that he was becoming less popular, but was a little surprised when I started watching the news this morning. He made some mistakes along the way, but it seems like the mining tax was the nail in the coffin for him.

I liked him. Straight forward and honest was my impression but then again I do not live there.

Rudds gone but hopefully the tax isn't. At least he has wakened a lot of people to the corporate greed that is occuring here with our resources sector (amongst others) with little benefit to most. It's quite amazing how he lost favour without actually doing anything particularly nasty to the voting majority. I thought for the most part he was a great Prime Minister, as was Howard before him before he went all wacko about WorkChoices. Personally I think it's scary display of the backroom power and influence of corporate and political figures on our government and through almost propaganderous manipulation of the media, the public. I'm neither pro Lib or pro Labor but if one good thing has come out of this is at least Abbott's chances seem doomed. The thought of him leading the country....well I just don't want to think about that really....more frightening than Julia's hair colour.

As usual, politics has created heated debate. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and sometime in the next few months, the Australian voting public will get a chance to express how they feel about who should and shouldnt be in power.I agree in part with Adam that we dont seem to have any one to run the country, however, dont agree with him on the mining tax. Thats the beauty of a democracy, isnt it?My prediction is,:icon_rolleyes:, labour will be chucked out and the coalition will be re elected. A six pack on it Adam? :icon_biggrin:
