Rental Villas & visa

I would like to rent a villa in Ubud, Seminyak and Sanur for two months at each location between May and November 2011. Prefer 3br. Does anyone know of any for reasonable rent and within walking distance of main centres. Would also like information on a six month visa and what it entails. Can this be organised from Perth?

It's difficult to get short term leases like 2 months. I would suggest getting a place for 6 months and making short trips and just staying in a guest house to other parts of the island. About the visa, it depends on what you will be doing in Bali, working, retiring etc.

Be aware that if you enter into a lease agreement for a villa/unit in bali you are required to hold a KITAS visa. The onus is upon the foreigner to have the correct visa. Apparently immigration officers have been conducting spot checks on foreigners in the Seminyak area. If you're caught out you will be asked to leave the country.

What the Feck are you talking about Cheynewalk? Explain to me how immigration officers in Seminyak are conducting this spot check? Are they hanging around outside villas waiting for bule to come out? How will they know if the Bule are only here for 1/2 months? Or renting the villa on a daily/weekly basis? Do they expect Bule to walk around with their passports? I think your statement is massive bollocks, only my personal opinion mind you:icon_biggrin:

The owner of the property is responsible for providing your details to the police, however it is your responsibility to have the correct visa, which in the case of a lease is a KITAS. Immigration officers are obviously getting their information from police sources. Markit, I suggest you check the regulations on visas to this country

The owner of the property is responsible for you siging "his little black book" with your home address, passport number, date of arrival at said property, and approx date of departure. Owner must do this for tax purposes 3. hello, i have just taken a 15 year lease out on a villa, i was planning on staying there on and off for 6 mths at a time, not working, for this i understand i need to have a social visa which must be renewed every 2 months for up to a period of 6 months, then a new visa must be applied for and you must leave the country for a couple of days...is this correct...?? thak you ...tikus :)

Yep! you've blown my socks clean off! How can anyone sign a 15 year lease on a villa and not know how he's gonna stay in the country long enough to enjoy it? Would you like to buy a bridge in San Francisco? I've always wondered about these stories you hear now and again about people that buy villas from taxi drivers - was yours named Made? Sorry but I must be losing it - it must just be me...:icon_rolleyes:

If the bridge in question is the Golden Gate it is no longer for sale. I purchased this bridge last week from a taxi driver who has become my good friend (Oddly enough he is also named Made). However since the purchase I have not seen him. I wonder if he is ill.

Hi Tikus, previously, I applied for my sosial budaya through the consulate in Sydney. It's very easy to do. You will need a sponsor letter, a copy of your sponsor's KTP, a photo, a return ticket or a ticket out of the country and $60 (credit card only). It takes 5 working days to process. good evening markit,thanku for yr reply but it really did not help me..!!.. the answer to yr first question is "quite easily", i have travelled the beautiful isle ov bali entirely, and visited many many times...to some ov the most remote scenic places, i speak reasonably fluent bahasa indonesia and i have a second family in bali....and many friends.....i am also a lady not a HE .....and no i did not sign my lease through a taxi driver called Made...haha..it was all handled professionally...i am in a position to come home if i please or stay if i choose....just needed help from someone who has obtained a visa through the indonesian consulate in sydney because i am having no luck....Tikus...

Hi Tikus. I've found the embassy in Sydney to be pretty easy. Allow at least five days - fill in your form and submit it along with your sponsor's letter, flight itinerary and of course money. They ask for a return ticket (or ticket out) but they've given me a social visa without a return ticket. I simply explained that I didn't know exactly what date I was leaving and would prefer to purchase my return ticket when my plans where more concrete - the lady at the counter said she would try and would call me if there any problems - there weren't. If you want flexibility which it sounds like you do...a social visa is the way to go. Have you experienced any specific problems with the Embassy in Sydney? PS. I hope Markit, has managed to get his socks back on.

hi Latah, thanksfor yr reply, my problem is i have been trying to call the consulate in canberra and in maroubra in sydney...both have recordings but no one answering...thats why i wanted to know basically how other people went about this....:) i hope he has his socks back on toooo......lol...thx again..tikus....
