Yet another Shipping question...sorry

Hi all. First post, so sorry to make it about a subject/s that have been written and advised on so many times before. Getting a little confused sifting through all the old posts and reading about new regs ect. So here goes with my own questions: I'm shifting to Bali with my elderly & charming father, who has Alzheimer's. We've been living in Cambodia on and off for years now but left Cambo permanently a little less than a year ago due to the basically non-existent medical where we lived. Finding it hard to re-adjust to living in Aus after being in Asia for an extended period I decided to do a recky to Bali, in the hope of finding a nice compromise between Australia and Cambodia. Having never been to Bali, I was blown away by all it seems to offer and loved it. We're not bringing much, in fact hardly anything including clothes...after being in Cambo so long, we are way overdue for some serious wardrobe shopping and love what Bali has to offer. There are two things that I can't get my head around giving up: My Isomac espresso machine around 22kgs and a value of around $2G Aus (pretty much same as US$ at mo). And my motorbike..nothing flash or expensive, it's Korean but it is a cruiser and I couldn't find anything like it in Bali. I don't enjoy riding Tigers and can't get used to them (ok, prob don't wan't to get used to them). I know I have to give up on the idea of importing my bike from Oz but I've got (basically) the same bike in Cambo...albeit a really rustic clapped out version that looks worthless but runs fine. I'm wondering if anyone might know of any sneaky ways to try bringing in my bike from Cambodia. At the end of the day..it's not worth much at all..so if I lost it, it would be sad but not the end of the world as I from now on I'll only be riding it when visiting Cambodia for short breaks. Could disassembling the bike help... I'd also welcome any thoughts or suggestions with regard to getting my coffee machine from Aus to Bali and in an ideal world my grinder (prob around 30kg) all up. I know it is an indulgence and if it is too hard or expensive...I'll start getting my head around leaving it behind. I know I can get great coffee in Bali. Coming in on a social visas (if that info helps). On a final note...the other thing that I'd welcome suggestions on is, finding someone to help with my rather unique and much loved father. He is charming and funny but confused as all hell with a strong sense of independence that makes it hard to get respite from caring from him. It's not as straight forward as caring for child because he doesn't think he needs help or looking after. I'm willing to pay a bit for the right person to help me. Does anyone have suggestions on how I can start my search? Again, sorry for the subject matter as both shipping and hiring help seem to covered a lot on these threads...guess I'm hoping for a more tailored reply with regard to help with my father. Would anyone have any idea what nurses get paid in Bali? Looking forward to getting know people on the board and our move to Bali. Alas, I'm dreading the packing up of our house and getting ready...got to stop procrastinating! Cheers

I think you can send your coffee machine as part of your household goods. (pack & send) in Australia I think they can send door to door in Bali. The motor bike is a no no, you can not import second hand motor bike, unless you call it a race bike & track use only. no rego I hope that helps :icon_mrgreen:

Yes, Fred2..that does help - thanks. I'll look into Pack & Send and get out of denial about my bike.

Sell the machine, might cost you USD 2,000 to import it. In fact, better sell everything you own and only bring a few suitcases with clothes.

Yeah...sadly, I looked into Pack & Send and it is going to be too expensive due to the weight of it. I'll let a friend have it....for now. You never know, one day I might find a kind person who will let me pop it in a container they are already bringing over (for some renumeration of course). Or a visiting friend, with a squillion FF points who is flying business. Other than that...we are leaving with one small bag each. Thanks to all who have helped me let go of my espresso machine - the coffee junkie in me had to at least try to find a way of bringing her with me...
