Hello and greetings,
I was wondering what you are all doing for medical insurance. I have been doing research for weeks and I still cant decide what to do.
So far, I am looking at going with Inter-Global...anyone dealing with them? They offer a competitive annual rate and they have an office in Indonesia.
Anyone who doesnt carry insurance?
I am also curious to hear how many times you've been in hospital/needed medical attention since you moved to Bali.
Please tell me your stories.
Thanks
Kira

2. What are some names/websites that offer insurance?
3. Are there good doctors/dentits/hospital in Ubud?

You need to look at the baliadvertiser.biz for the information regarding insurance websites etc. This is an expat newspaper that has adverts for health insurance, personal/building insurance etc.
There are a few "good" doctors in Ubud, again, it is trial and error to find one that you like, it is difficult to recommend that kind of thing, personal choice in my view. Again when you get here just ask around, go for a walk near where you are living and check it out. Dentist - in my personal opinion Denpasar is the place to go, and again Bali Advertiser has a list of the professionals. Hospital - Bypass Road Sanur you have SOS and BMIC only place, again in my personal opinion to go in the case of an emergency.
Whitecow, most of us expats, that live in Bali have done the hard yards in learning "what, where and how" I dont think you can expect to have all the answers immediately at your fingertips. The fun is discovering it for yourself.
I see for a previous post, that you are building. So you must have some contacts already, that also can help with your various questions.

Hi everyone,
Need some advice on health insurance please, my partner and I are moving over in July. Which companies should I be looking into for the best cover/best price?
Thanks so much!

I agree that :

[*]for us oldies, insurance is not an affordable option
[*]as long as Australia maintains travel limits for the pandemic, Medicare is not so useful

so, you need to keep some funds you can draw on quickly, and you may need help from a friend if you are already in a hospital.
The good news is that KITAS/KITAP prices are relatively affordable.

Hello everyone, it is such a joy to look at the forum again. I took a break for awhile. Actually I tore my rotator cuff, and had to have micro surgery. I am not sure if it worked or not. At the time I didn’t have my kitas visa so I had to pay a higher price. I don’t know how much that was. What is the discount with a kitas? Since then I have put on my big boy pants as someone so lovingly suggested and gotten my retirement kitas visa and am interested in buying health insurance in Bali. I would like it if the friendly folks here on the forum could give me some ideas about the different companies, prices, what they cover, how much of a premium would I have to pay. All information. Basically I want someone to tell me their experiences and opinions. I saw someone mention their wife went to the hospital, and Allianz didn’t cover it. Why? These kind of things I would like to know. Good and bad! So now I am an official old crusty like a lot of you Ha!

Much depends on your age. I am not sure what the drop off point is but it seems that at least 70 onwards the cost of insurance is prohibitive. I had a fall back notion that in the event of anything major I would return to Aus and Medicare. That isn't a likely option at the moment with few and ever increasing costs for air fares.
Sorry to hear about the rotator cuff. I am sure many would be interested to know where you had your surgery and the costs. Good luck with the rehabilitation.

Hello everyone, it is so nice to come back and visit. It is just as I expected. Harryopal was positive and Markit was Markit. I only wanted to see what the responses would be. I already knew that insurance is a joke. They only want you to pay monthly, but when you need them, they wont help and say your problem was an Act of God! It seems you are all from Australia. Funny enough I have full coverage in my home country, but when you go you go, and their help is in the wind. So here we are in Bali bagus. Sorry Markit, I am not a fresh fish that you can scare with your harshness. It was a good try and I’m sure that disappoints you, but don’t worry there will be more that you can scare and eat at your leisure. Thank you to all that wanted to help. I do appreciate it. It shows that there are some kind people still in this world. Peace and love, Dennis

Can someone explain what this means please, apologies if asked before:

[*]Proof of insurance coverage from an insurance company incorporated as a legal entity in Indonesia that covers health costs during the traveller’s stay in Indonesia.

It seems to suggest buying insurance in Indonesia. If not how can I find out what insurance companies are incorporated in Indonesia. Grateful if any info on this and how the checks are carried out at immigration. Not been home for over 2 years and desperate to return.
As an aside greetings to all old timers in here.
Markit
Might I suggest some artistic use of Photoshop along with the buying of some travel insurance affiliated with Indonesia? Most of the main ones such as Allianz.

Hello - New here - Does this include insurance options for long term stays? I'm planning on coming over for one year.

The Jagawista covid-19 medical insurance can be purchased based on start/end date when signing up, so 1 yr should be possible. As I mentioned in post #3 this is a covid-19 only insurance with very limited financial coverage, so at the best a "supplement' to a proper travel/medical insurance w/comprehensive medical cover, medical evacuation & repatriation.
I haven't checked lately but if I'm not wrong companies like WorldNomads offer plans from US$75/month.

The problem with these plans is that you only ever find out if they are worth anything when the time comes to make a claim. By then, it is too late.
