-Made ("Madee")-Made is a 35-year-old Balinese boy, small & slender and he has a tumor in his penis. It is not that he introduced himself with: "Hi, how are you? I am Made and I have a tumor in my little Johnny." Nah... the subject is much too sensitive. We had a couple of small talks before he told me about this part of his life. Made has been married for 10 years and his wife is also 35, but they don't have any children. This is quite unusual for the Balinese, so he told me it was because of the tumor. The doc gave him a choice: to operate his little Johnny or only the tumor. He chose for the last option, so that he still could make love with his wife. He was standing when he told me this, and with his shoulders low and his eyes on the floor he whispered:"My sperm is not strong enough..." Then he lifted his chest, looked in front of him and with a louder voice: " ...but I still can have s*x!" ;-)The story of this man kept me pretty busy this week. Not only because having children is very important for the Balinese (and I can only imagine how this must have affected his life, their lifes), but also because of the way he confirmed he was still able to 'perform', as if he was trying to confirm his masculinity.
