What we have here is a 'failure to communicate' and I think the operative phrase is 'nowhere to plug' as in the unavailability of plastic things in the wall where electricity comes out. Goat that?

Are you really that stupid Murky, or are you just trying harder lately? I said, or implied or was perhaps a bit vague, that without a power point that is actually hooked up to a grid, a generator, an inverter or some means of generating power/watts/amps/volts then you cannot charge any devices that run on electricity, now is that clear or do you need a drawing?

I actually have not lived anywhere in the last 60 years that didn't have some place to plug something in. Perhaps I've led a sheltered life but I assumed, obviously not reckoning with BHBs back-to-nature problems, that all the contributors here where using a pc or laptop or smartphone to do so. That being the case they MUST ALL HAVE A FECKING PLUG YOU HAGUS BASHING TWI(A)T. Moving logically (scary) on from that presumption it seemed obvious to me that (knowing the tech level of the average Scotsman or woman isn't much above a stone) there was some other problem. You would be surprised and amazed the number of people (look perhaps in the mirror) that have no clue about USB slots or any other kind.

If you are talking about a Kindle they require very little charge, especially compared to most laptops and smartphones. I find one of most basic versions and find it very easy to read on and in fact have never read so much since I got it.

When you have 25 people sharing limited utilities and some items require priority access to the power points, charging non-essential devices is not an option. Life Support Equipment has first dibs, essential communication devices come second followed by work related laptops and tablets, recreational reading devices are the very last in line, which was the point I was making that Ebook readers and Kindles are only as good as their battery life, a point you choose to ignore. Believe it or not, not every location on the planet has instant access to power points, and you obviously don't understand that a USB is powered by the device it serves, if the item is dead so is the USB outlet. And its HAGGIS by the way, a sheep's bladder stuffed with offal, I thought you would be an expert on that.

My kindle takes about an hour to charge and lasts for 2 or 3 weeks I'd guess, on that single charge - the reason I don't know for sure is that it takes so long to run down I lose track. Oh and BHSB your tone is beginning to remind many of us of a certain guy who didn't have a leg to stand on or is that a genetic thing like Huntingdon's or Hemophilia?:cupcake:
