Want to increase my electricity to 7500 KW- How???

@Jimbo: Yes, you are right. 900 W is not enough if you want to use an iron, toaster, hairdryer or anything with similar wattage at the same time. I live with four other people in one house and 900W is quite sufficient for 2 TVs, 2 fridges, PC, water pump, etc. - BUT no AC... nevertheless ironing can sometimes make the situation a bit difficult. Anyway, 2000 W would easily suffice. I think 2000-3000W, or if you really need it so badly - 5000 to 7000W, should be enough for every normal home or even villa. In my opinion there are far too many villas with supplies more suitable for small businesses... greetings

Does all this talk of exhorbitant power costs make solar power or solar hot water more attractive. What about instantaneous gas hot water?

I have heard that you could break you property up into 2/3 plots with a certificate on each and then apply for 3 lots of power. Bit of a hassle but if it saves 100/150 million might be worth the effort?

Re PLN: I think we´d all agree with the fact that there is not enough electricity on Bali, now same with the telephone lines they keep saying "sorry all sold out" but in real they´re still keeping some lines for sale to the person with the biggest need or money, now same with the electricity, you´ve asked yourself why hundreds of little houses desperating waiting for electricity and no help in sight? Right they have no money to pay these insane prices like 100 - 240 million in the south. The same cost far less in the west of Bali (a guy I know just pay 35 or 40) or in the east of Bali as you said. These PLN guys are thinking but maybe some rich developer in the bukit does, so we keep and hide it (I wouldn´t be astonished if in some cases even their boss and supervisor don´t know about that) and now wait and see...BINGO with out any risk (ok maybe getting fired) like a blackmarket, you can´t do anything against it, they got the power (literally) and we have the need, they make the rules but we have the possibility to use other technical substitute systems! Is the sun shining for free? Do they sell subsidized gasoline in Indonesia? Yes!

Brilliant Ideas: (1) Use less power and get what you do need from PLN (2) Wind genny feeding some bigass batteries, but only for those where wind is available - coast or mountains, not in between - and then only seasonally. Oh, and see (1) (3) Feed a wire secretly to your neighbour- he will be 10 months a year in Oz so it's ok.:icon_biggrin:

Just to throw a damper on the environmental lobby - I researched the option of going photovoltaic and solar water heated when I first got the shocker from PLN and I'm afraid I have to tell you that to get anything like 6000 Watts would cost in the region of $150,000. Now if you want to go a cheaper route then you can hybrid it - half PV and the other half genset - but then you have the wonderful pleasure of a stinking, loud genny running 8 hours a day, and having to provide maintenance and diesel - 8 hours a day is the max these things can run without a rest, unless you layout for an industrial model - but then you are talking $25/30K same as PLN.... PV is coming down in price and rising in efficiency but unless you are really stuck up in the rainforest without a paddle and with some seriously deep pockets it just isn't competition with PLN - yet! Solar hot water is a wonderfully easy option for all to enjoy - only pity is I don't really need hot water here...:icon_cry:

Okay Markit I see you did your homework :icon_wink:, I´m not too happy with the situation either, too be honest if there´d be plenty of electricity on the market I wouldn´t thinking about expensive sub so called eco systems, but as a builder, houseowner, developer whatever you´ve to face the music - there´s no more power and it looks like it will be for years! There is 1 villa owner who invest 300.000 USD in genset, solar, pln backupsystems etc etc for his jetset yuppie waterfall blabla villa, cum´on!! 300 grand just for enough electricity? You can buy a 85.000 watt generator for 150 - 160 million rupiah but thirsty little fellow. Alternatives for a new development (let´s say IMB granted, village happy etc), where to find the power if PLN cannot provide it? Solar tech getting better & better, i was told you´ve to imagine a big battery where all the energy (solar, genset, electricity) goes in (i´m no pro just learning), like a combination of all possibilities, it´s expensive YES! But over the years maybe profitable...if somebody has a brilliant idea please tell me!?!
