I couldn't find turkey anywhere. Most locals say that turkey (ayam kalkun) is not meant to be eaten, something about it being bigger and a protector bird or something like that. I've only had it once in Indonesia, in Lombok. At the harbor in Lembar I got some nasi bugkus and picked a piece of meat that I thought was a big piece of chicken. I was pleasantly surprised when i bit into it on the boat and it was turkey.

cali, you could try 'Dolong' big duck..as far as I know that's not a protector bird  .

They sell frozen turkeys in Carrefour. I got one last year to take over to Lombok for Xmas. We will be going a bit too early to bring one this year though.

Not that it matters now since Thanksgiving has come and gone, but I heard they do a turkey dinner at Skybar in Kuta for 250.000 on Thanksgiving. A little too steep for my teacher wages. However, I decided to have a 2 meals that reminded me of America on Thanksgiving; Mexican food for lunch and McDonald's for dinner  Not the best Thanksgiving I've ever had, but I was thankful nonetheless.

Where is Skybar? Do you mean Sky Garden or is it a different spot altogether?
mimpimanis
We usually do a Christmas dinner FOC for our guests. Unfortunately wont be able to this year.

calitobali-
Yeah. I must mean Sky Garden in Kuta. The place where they usually have an all you can drink beer special, thats the one.
Where you from in Cali? I just moved here a few months ago from San Diego myself.
calitobali
Yea, that place always has good drink specials. I take full advantage of the rp 5k bintangs on Saturday night.
I was living in Ventura before I came to Bali, just a little less than an hour north of LA.

Ah yes, Ventura. I had family in Santa Barbara, so I spent a little bit of time in Ventura. Cool!
